About this house rental
Nestled in Taos, this lovely house for $378 per night is a great option for your next break. This home has an open living/dining/kitchen with wood floors throughout, large windows to great mountain views, steam shower, high speed fibre optic wifi, air-conditioning in all 4 bedrooms and much more. It is nicely furnished with original artwork and oriental carpets. Situated on 5 acres with amazing views over Taos and the mountains, the house is surrounded by endless acres of open horse fields yet close to the downtown plaza. This adobe house has wooden floors, skylights, vegas in the ceiling throughout. For people working from home, there is high speed fibre optic and a work desk in the upstairs master. The kitchen, living and dining rooms are large and open plan. The spacious kitchen has granite counter tops, new appliances and a large island for cooking preparation or gathering around. An extendable dining table can seat up to 12 people. Or being so close to town take the night off cooking and be at great restaurants in minutes. The living area has a 52 inch flat screen TV and a glass front wood fireplace. A wrap around verandah with a patio heater or upstairs deck provide great places to see unobstructed views of the incredible Taos sunsets and mountains. The large sunroom can also be used as a mud room. The upstairs master bedroom and bathroom have 8 foot windows providing fantastic views of the mountains from both the bedroom and bathroom. Sit in the 7 foot steam shower and gaze at the views. Newly tiled with a granite countertop. The bedroom is cozy with berber carpet and amazing views from the bed. Satellite TV in room. There is a large room/closet which has a fold out full size futon On the downstairs, one bedroom has a queen bed, satellite flat screen TV and private bathroom. Another bedroom has a king bed with satellite TV and a bathroom that is also accessed from the kitchen area. The third bedroom has a queen bed. One couch in the living room folds out to a double bed. The location was great, just a few minutes drive from the plaza and the home had absolutely everything you could ever need to cook as well as plenty of bedding and towels. The home had lots of space for our family of 5 - 4 adults and 1 child - and the mini pool table and corn hole games were a fun addition. There was a slight issue with the accuracy of the listing, but that was no fault of the owner and it was addressed immediately. Communication with the owner was stellar - she is very responsive and handled our requests perfectly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to others.

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at this property and spent much time enjoying the beautiful views from the veranda. Enough space for each of us to have privacy of our own bedrooms and baths and comfortable gathering areas for us to hang out together. Modern amenities and fully equipped. Very close to the plaza with country like setting. The property owner was very attentive. Will definitely stay here again when in Taos.

The property has so much potential and the owners are great. The VRBO ad did not match the photos on the outside and the description was not up front that we would be sharing the property with another house and multiple families. The inside decor was really nice and the views were beautiful. We really liked the upstairs room and there was plenty of space. The water pressure was very low and finding hot water consistently was a challenge. Shower heads need to be replaced or cleaned. There were a lot of doors and parts of the house that were settled and not functioning correctly. There appeared to be electrical issues and weird wiring with a lot of extension cords throughout the house. Ample parking for an RV, but getting an RV onto the property is proved difficult. Overall there just needs to be basic maintenance done to recommend this place to a friend.

Our family was in need of a quick reservation and the host was very responsive in getting back to us promptly. The house was perfect for four adults, beds for everyone, loved the large fully equipped kitchen that opens up to the comfortable living room. Despite the cold weather conditions we enjoyed watching the sunset on the cozy front patio. Our 3 night stay was comfortable and relaxing. We really liked the location, private and off the beaten path away from tourists.

This property was perfect for exactly what we needed. We had 9 people and everyone was able to sleep comfortably. We got to take some picturesque photos from many of the decks on the house. The steam shower was an absolute game changer for us as we were skiing the whole time and it helped in the daily recovery. Definitely plan on making this a regular stop for our ski trips maybe even a summer trip.

The "driveway" was a very long dirt/mud track where we drove by several abandoned buildings, an abandoned trailer home, and other junk. The outside of the property looked junky. Weeds overgrown, dirty. The interior of the house was not even close to the "luxury" designation and it was expensive. The place had a creepy feel to it and we only stayed 1 night vs. our 3 night reservation. We are trying to get a refund from the owner.

This is a big house with plenty of room inside & out for spending time with family & friends, but it also offers opportunities for quiet time when you need your own space. Beautiful views, away from the noise of traffic & the main plaza, while just being minutes away by car. Gail is a great host - very responsive & accommodating. We loved sitting out on the extended porch & the steam shower upstairs was a fabulous bonus! Looking forward to staying here again.

We had the best stay in Taos thanks to Gail's lovely home! To start, the property is spacious and private. There are spectacular views in every direction while being conveniently located to Taos plaza. The home has all the essentials you might need and more.
Plus, Gail was a great host! She provided wonderful recommendations and made the check in/out process super easy. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful time at Gail's property. The house was a welcome overlooking the Taos valley. Gail did everything to make our stay comfortable and threw in some terrific local recommendations. We would definitely come back.

There are some good things about this property and perhaps we caught it between seasons or at a bad time, BUT, with our visit, it did not fit description (certainly not a "luxury home" and we did not have good experience:
* we had on/off hot water during our stay and none the last 1.5 days. The owner volunteered after check-in "water problem with previous renter, but it was repaired". For us, as we advised of issues, rather than rent adjustment, she just said "sorry about the inconvenience" (real fallacy in VRBO renter protection).
* house is in mixed neighborhood of decent homes and mobile homes in bad need of repair. It is separated with the 5 acres of pasture (fenced so you can't use), but still access is through the mixed area.
* along gravel drive, there are abandoned sheds, furniture, etc. As you drive up, there is an adjacent rental property that could be better maintained, an industrial garage and a plank shed.
* firewood and other stuff are messily piled out back. Multiple hoses and electrical cords wind through the less than well-maintained landscape. Not good appearance and all of above terribly detracts.
* porch furniture looks dinghy and there was dirt across the floor and broken molding at front door.
* sunroom furniture is dirty, stained and one chair is broken.
* a sofa in living area has old throw cover on it.
* several places through house have multiple exposed electrical plugs and power cords. One bedroom has exterior orange electrical cord running across the wall, across top of a door and down to tv.
* several beds are less than comfortable and no pillows were.
* one bedroom had broken window shade (owner said "on order")
* the lighting throughout is atrocious and the house is dark, except for the kitchen and upstairs master (both renovated, but certainly not renovated throughout as claimed).
* kitchen is decently equipped, but utensils, et al aren't organized and nothing is marked.
On the good side, the house is convenient to downtown and is well spaced from other properties, so that there are decent views from the porches (not interior). Several pieces of furniture are unique and the wood floors have been restored very nicely.
Relative to the other 5* reviews, we really thought we had the wrong house. It has potential and, with lighting, some furniture replacement and a lot of maintenance, it might come
close to the description, but for anyone considering it for this summer, we suggest you ask a lot of questions.

We had a lovely experience. The house is beautiful, and we used all of it--from the rooftop deck, with its spectacular sunset views, to the cushy living area. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. We will ask to book again for the same time next year.
