Location was perfect. Once there we could walk to anything we wanted. Breakfast was very good. It was fresh and good selections. Staff made sure we had what we wanted and went out of their way for us.

Truly marvellous historical palace. Rooms were ornate and authentic reflecting its antiquity. Location was perfect for access to all old Matera has to offer

Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip to Matera. This beautiful historic palace is not a luxury 5-star hotel and could benefit from some renovations, but that is part of its charm. If you are looking for a unique, authentic, and truly majestic place to stay, don't hesitate, this is the place for you.
Our room was incredibly spacious, with a comfortable bed and amazing views over the city. The building itself is full of character and offers an experience that modern hotels simply cannot replicate.
What surprised us most—and isn't advertised nearly enough—is the spectacular garden and private viewpoint. While hundreds of visitors gather at the public viewpoints around Matera trying to catch a glimpse of the famous scenery, you have what is arguably the best view in the city all to yourself. Being one of the highest buildings in Matera, the panoramic views from the outdoor area are absolutely stunning and worth the stay alone.
The breakfast was another highlight. Not only was it delicious, but it was served in a magnificent ballroom, making the experience feel truly special.
The hosts and owner were lovely, and they generously allowed us to remain in our room until 4 pm since it was not booked that day.
This hotel made our visit to Matera truly special and created memories we will never forget. For anyone who appreciates history, character, incredible views, and genuine hospitality, I could not recommend it more highly.
