Oh my goodness, we LOVED our stay at Il Palazzotto. Our suite (suite 3) took our breath away. Located a few metres away from where the taxi drops you off (a huge bonus given that some hotels are a steep climb up many steps!) Staff were excellent and so helpful in arranging taxis. Great breakfast served in beautiful surroundings. Right in the heart of Matera and very close to many restaurants.

The hotel is absolutely stunning: multiple rooms carved into the rock right in Matera's Sassi district.
The rooms are all furnished to a high standard, with our suite containing a bath. The bed was incredibly comfortable.
The room had air conditioning which helped during the 36 degree heat.
A nice buffet breakfast is served in the intimate cave dwelling near the reception area.
The hotel staff are very friendly and attentive.

Beautiful reception area and beautiful aesthetics in the delux apt that we stayed in, the location was perfect to see what is like to be in the Sassi zone. Would highly recommend staying here
Two things . The bathrooms are very poorly designed with high end fixtures but you must go thru the shower area to use the sink and toilet. So you wet your socks every time you use the toilet. They must move the shower to the rear and move the sink to the front. This is a problem in other apartments that they rent.
