Good

Lovely apartment in the heart of Avignon. Easy access to the must-see locations, restaurants etc. Parking is possible in the parking lots close (max. 10 minutes walk). The apartment is nicely equipped, with some refurbishment to be done (e.g. toilet seat 1st floor, wardrobe in the lower bedroom).

We arrived near midnight. After climbing very narrow and steep stairs to the fourth floor, we were enveloped by the heavy stark stink of backed-up sewage. I immediately called Booking.com (An international call to the UK). After waiting for ca. 30-40 mins in the queue on an international call, I finally explained the situation to an agent called Gabriel. (He said he was in Mexico). I told Gabriel that we needed to be moved and the booking cancelled. I also gave Gabriel my mobile number, and he called me back after a short while to inform me that he was handling the situation. He did not call back again, and I never heard back from him. We were unable to find other accommodation. My eldest daughter (11) was vomiting due to the smell. My wife sprayed perfume onto our three daughters surgical face masks, and our girls (11,10 and 3) slept on the lower floor on a mattress I carried down from the upper floor, where the smell was the most extreme. In addition to the smell, the flat was not clean, and the bathtub is cracked. We suffered through the night and departed early the next day. I contacted the host demanding a refund for our night of anguish and asked to cancel the second night of our reservation. I also contacted Booking.com and texted and spoke to several agents over a week. We got the usual canned response and empty apologies. One agent told me to cancel a booking, we should have called Booking.com immediately upon arrival. When the agent got that I had done that, they said they would ask the property for a refund. The next day I learned the property refused to either refund or cancel the second night. The next time I got in touch with Booking.com customer support, I learned that Gabriel had only informed the property of our dilemma but that the property had 24 hours to respond at that Gabriel had made no further attempt to resolve the situation.

Perfect family stay.

Apartment has a perfect location. Just in the heart of the city. Very near to restaurants and attraction points. You can reach almost everywhere on foot. Very spacious for families.

Kitchen could be better equipped in terms of utensils and cutlery.

Quirky, charming and comfortable stay, perfect for family.

Location was perfect - walking distance to everything! And having the aircon was especially nice to cool down on hot days and help with sleep.

Seemed like cleaning was not completed fully. Used amenities left in shower and drawers, and one if the beds was missing a duvet cover. We did not need it but seemed odd.

Not fit for purpose

The colour changing lights behind the TV

Not clean at all!I cleaned some areas and my cloth was black..they need a proper housekeeper. Very cold! the fan heater in the main room was not effective. Not hot water, although there was some in the morning but the tank is very small and therefore not suitable for five persons of which I was. Old building smell!! To be expected in such a place but I didn’t know that this would be the case and the smell was very stressful for me. The toilet has a very light flush, a bucket was needed to flush the toilet. No dishwasher tabs, mop and bucket or basic cleaning products. These things need to be provided.

The location was fantastic, super central 5 minutes walking distance from Le Palais des Papes. The apartment is super clean and very delicated and warm decoration, we felt really like to be at home
