Location was great for access to Beamish museum and the angel of the north just short drive away and a great base to go further afield.
Breakfast was really good with a selection of cereal, croissants, muffins, a toaster, bread and butter and different spreads, yoghurts a selection of juices, teas and coffee, and the full English breakfast was a great start to the days we were there.
Staff and other guests were very friendly and quick to offer stories on their experiences

Only 10 minutes to Beamish and Newcastle. They have their own parking. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Choice of delicious hot breakfast and continental option. All our meals were tasty and not your usual pub fare. We did not find any reason to look for another place to eat. Next to Lamesley nature reserve, which was a nice bonus.
On our last dinner, which is a Monday, most the drink I asked were not available.

My chalet room outside the main building was clean and comfortable, very quiet with a nice rural view. The bar / restaurant was very busy at 6pm on a Friday so I guess it is a popular place. However there was still free seating available both inside and out - there is a pleasant garden area. The receptionist was quick and efficient. Access to Newcastle town centre by car is very easy, just 10 minutes or so, and there was available free parking despite hosting an event that night.
Breakfast service was a bit average. There were no coffee cups, crockery or cereal bowls available at the buffet when I arrived and after a 5 minute wait I had to go and find someone in the kitchen to provide. Another table was also waiting. The poached eggs in Eggs Benedict looked fried to me and were not runny.
