Location, building and rooms
Gym/Pool staff not very forth coming or helpful. After checking into the pool
I had to go back to get towels that weren’t offered to us.
Full English Breakfast good be a bit better quality -
For £33 I could get similar at the greasy spoon down the road for a fraction of the cost.

Everything was lovely
Breakfast had changed not so much choice, my partners a vegan which wasn’t catered for, so probably won’t have breakfast there again

The location is excellent for central London - Soho is on your doorstep. You can walk to some great restaurants and bars, Piccadilly station is only a short walk and green park station only a few minutes more so getting around on the tube is easy.
The bed was very comfortable .
The staff we met were lovely to us, very friendly. They were happy to mind our luggage on our check out day so we could use our morning to potter around before heading home.
Unfortunately the hotel is just not at the quality required for a five star rating. Our room, although upgraded to a small suite, was old and dilapidated. The carpet was ancient and worn, the bathroom was grotty and stained, the furniture chipped and worn. One had the impression of a hotel that might once have been a high end place but not for many many years. There is a general sense of neglect and lack of upkeep of the rooms themselves.
The hotel reception and an adjoining cocktail bar have clearly had investment and they are beautiful, and give a very strong impression, but the rooms themselves (if they are all like the executive suite we stayed in) are simply miles away from what is required for a five star hotel.
I would imagine if the ongoing renovation works bring the place up to standard it could be amazing, and I couldn't say this was a bad experience at all, but it's just not 5 star level at the moment.
