This is a very high quality hotel. It is a Pullman and near the top of the quality range for Accor group. Although the room rate is a little on the expensive side the quality of what you get is superior, especially compared to some of the places on the Esplanade with much higher room rates and offer significantly less. The hotel is close to the Marina and the Pier with the many great restaurants located there. It is literally across the road from Hemmingway's Brewery - an excellent restaurant and brewery.
This hotel has been there for quite some time. My wife and I stayed there back in 1991 when it was an Intercontinental and relatively new. Some aspects of the hotel are looking a bit warn and in need of refurbishing. Eg. worn carpets, broken bathroom fittings, just general wear and tear issues for furniture items and room/bathroom fittings that look like they are still the originals from when the hotel was built. Also, the gym is very under-equipped. Cannot really do a full workout with the limited equipment they have, in contrast to the Pullman hotel at CityCentre Dubai which has an excellent gym. However, this is a problem with most hotels who say they have a gym, when in fact all they have is a dedicated room with a few random weights and a multistation machine.

Nice refurbishment of large rooms, although it was a little disappointing to see stains in the new carpet already.
Very comfortable beds and modern bathrooms with no shower over bath thank god.
Breakfast on the more expensive side
Communications with some breakfast staff was difficult
