Great location right off the city square and about 5 minutes from the beautiful Rievalux Abbey ruins/museum. Great food in the restaurant - stellar dinner and breakfast too. The steak pie was delicious, and the strawberry bakewell blondie was a great dessert. Breakfast was a combo of some buffet items (fruit, granola, breads, juices) and a hot menu (I got the eggs Benedict.). Great bathroom with an actual washcloth - a rare thing in the UK/Europe.
No air conditioning in the room from what I could tell. I was there on a cooler day, and the windows were open when I checked in. But that could have been an issue if it was a hotter day. There was a fan though. Also, no lift, with a series of several stairwells to navigate through the old building, a couple where it is easy to smack your head. But thankfully each run of stairs was pretty short. There was a town market set up the morning of the day I left, so I wasn't able to park in the town square the night before. I checked in around 5pm, so I was easily able to get a spot on the street around the corner. But could be a bit tougher to find parking if you arrive late at night.
