Location

Room dirty, bar shut, couldn't get a drink at 10:15am on Saturday night. breakfast buffet very sparse for a 4 star hotel.

Our baby girl enjoyed the play area and the pool! Great location!

The staff members are the real gem of the hotel! They are all extremely kind and accommodating. They made our baby girl feel extra special. The pool and kids play room is the best thing ever especially for families like us with young babies. The bar/restaurant staff are very attentive to detail. I can’t praise the staff enough.

The food could be better. The parking fee I think is not reasonable especially for inhouse guest. We stayed 4 nights as we added 1 more night, and had to pay £15 per night.

Comfortable and good location

The pool was lovely and easy to book and use. The room had a nice view of the city and Winter Gardens, and the bed was comfy. Location was superb!

The room was quite dated, with a separate toilet and woodchip on the walls. I was quite shocked at how dated it was for the price!

Extremely dissapointing!

The restaurant and location of the hotel

No heating, I was given a mini portable heater, The toilet didn't flush in the standard room, someone tried to fix it, I was told I would be moved the next morning, I didnt get moved until midnight the following day. The ordering system doesn't work, Room service took 1h30 mins to deliver the order I placed. Breakfast was very basic, most of the pastries were gone. If you do opt for this hotel, don't book the standard rooms. Very expensive £196/ night for a standard room, no value for money. I personally wouldn't recommend the hotel.

Felt overcharged for our dogs.

Happy hour!

Overpriced for our dogs. We booked three rooms, one of which would contain two small dogs. We were charged £24 per dog. We were allocated three rooms on arrival. You had no idea which room the dogs would be in so you cannot claim the charge was for extra cleaning afterwards. Felt a little cheated.

Location was great for eating out and Ponds Forge Swimming Centre

Rooms felt old and tired, had a separate toilet which felt like a public toilet cubicle. The window was covered in cobwebs. The front end of the hotel was lovely and modern but bedroom felt very old.

Shefffield city center hotel

Parking. Central location. Comfy bed. Dog friendly hotel. Small but nice swim pool.

Cold bread from the freezer on breakfast. Waited over 5min to be seated but finally no welcome person on breakfast appears. Limited choice for breakfast at 9am but they finish at 10am. No airco available with very hot weather.

Poor staff, not very friendly on reception, very amateurish in the bar. I was charged £15 for 2 small wines instead of £9. Had to ask for table to be cleared for us to sit at, Staff just stood behind bar chatting.

Hotel does not warrant a 4* rating, wouldn’t go back.

Location was excellent, central to all restaurants and shops and easy access to the motorway. Outside sun terrace ideal for relaxing. Reception area excellent with child friendly and pet friendly areas.

Staff at times were short on the ground, often had to go searching for someone. No information readily available regarding facilities or how to use them ie. Bookings required to use the pool and gym, no information regarding parking facilities and codes required to leave, no details on check out times. Restaurant poor at best, service non existent, food poor and over priced. Had youngster who received food over 20 minutes after everyone else and had to request it 3 times before eventual arrival.

Nice feeling for a short stay.

Good location within walking distance to the city centre and the station. Spacious, clean rooms. Enough to choose for breakfast. Nice friendly staffs at reception and restaurant.

Toilets separate from bathrooms. Observed that spaces for parking are limited at the hotel. Although we are travelling by trains during this trip otherwise most times we used cars.

Excellent - will be back.

Very comfortable and clean. Swimming pool was a great bonus. Location excellent. Nice terrace area to have a drink.

Only issue is no sink in toilet (separate to bathroom) so washing hands after going on the loo was an issue if someone was in bathroom.

Good for a couple nights.

The staff at reception were lovely, they also listen to my request on being near my friends rooms. The beds were comfy.

We didn't get to use the pool facilities as shut to maintenance. Could have been told beforehand as we were excited to use them.

Above and Beyond Customer Service

The staff were fantastic. I injured my ankle and had to cut my stay short as a result. I couldn’t walk so the staff packed my bag for me and allowed a friend to collect it for me. Cannot say enough nice things about them. They made a very stressful ordeal much easier. Above and beyond!

Convenient place to visit Ponds Forge events

Location is great for city centre visits. Right next to the hotel are a car park, a local supermarket, and a bus stop. We chose it as our daughter was participating in a swimming event at Ponds Forge, which is just a 10 minute walk away. The breakfast assortment was great and included full English and continental options, as well as good selection of fresh fruit. The swimming pool and wellness suite is a good place to relax.

The rooms may benefit from a bit of refreshment. No air conditioning which may be an issue in summer. A bit of noise coming from the street upon opening the window (to deal with missing air conditioning). Slightly overpriced IMO.

A lovely hotel let down by the poor breakfast experience.

The room was nice, clean and as expected. Was nice to see they had a pool, but unfortunately never got a chance to use it. Staff were all helpful and friendly. The reception and restaurant / bar area was very nice looking also!

When we went down for breakfast at 9.15 we were told that there wasnt any free tables and would we like to eat in the bar area. Not a problem but there was numerous table empty and cleared, but just not set? Also there was quite a big wait for hot food as they had ran out of most things. Once the hot buffet had been restocked and we got to our table our food was barely luke warm. Very disappointing and as we had a busy day planned we didnt have time to complain and wait for hot food. I had also asked for some pastries as they had run out. After waiting a few minutes, asked the same waitress again as she was off doing other things instead. She had forgotten. Sort of understandable as it was busy. The staff were pleasant all though seemed to be run off their feet. I understand it was probably peak time for breakfast but just seemed a bit disorganised. A lovely well presented hotel, but disappointed to have had to eat a cold cooked breakfast! Not what I would expect for paying £231 for a nights stay for my wife and I. For £16 per person for breakfast, I expected better.

Location and staff excellent. During off periods, good value for money

Good price. Comfortable bed. Clean. Staff lovely. Pool and gym very nice.

Little control of temperature of room. It was a warm weekend, but hotel heating was on, meaning although our room heat was off, our room was still hot from surrounding areas. Couldn’t have window open due to traffic noise.

Good but a few issues

The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the station and the same distance to Bramhall Lane. Room was lovely & clean & staff were friendly. Breakfast was nice. Pool was a great addition. 12 o'clock checkout is great.

The room was hot as hell & couldn't get air con to work. The bathroom was especially hot. On arrival, I had to abandon the car in the front car park which was full & run up the stairs to reception (as this is on the 1st floor) to find out how to enter the underground parking. Parking is charged for ( understandable i suppose for city centre) which is disappointing, especially when the room was not cheap (which seems to be that when events are on, prices shoot up) and had to pay extra for breakfast. We had a dip in the pool before our event, beware of the tiles around the pool as when you step on some they ooze out dirtly water. The sofa bed (we booked a twin room) was so lumpy i hardly slept. When leaving we were stranded in the carpark, we rang reception and couldn't get through for 15 minutes, my friend ran all the way back to reception and had to wander around looking for a member of staff who was fluffing pillows on the sofa!! and didnt seem bothered that our call had gone unanswered for so long. Apparently, we should have been provided with car park code on arrival, which we were not. That bring said I would stay again purely due to the hotel being in a good location and the pool was a good addition.
