What a treat!! Lovely country hotel with incredible surroundings. Wonderfully large rooms. Friendly South African staff that are so welcoming. Delicious fine dining menu.. We had the pleasure of spending time with the very eccentric owner. In all a delightful experience.

Homely. Staff friendly and we swam in the lock.
Bit scruffy in places. Our towel rail which was actually in our room (as no bathroom door) was on all night on one of the warmest nights of the year and it wasn’t until the second time I woke in the night searching for the isolation switch that I found it hidden behind a bin on the other side of the room.
When booking I didn’t realise this was a three star hotel. I probably booked in a hurry. Our stay cost us over £620 for one night in a small double room. We booked in for dinner not realising it was £100 each set menu. Dinner was fine nothing amazing. Breakfast was fine nothing amazing. I’ve read the reviews. I am clearly far fussier than most people but for this sort of money, I expect things to be pretty exceptional. Very overpriced. At least throw in the sauna!!
