Fantastic location and public areas/pub is lovely. It is really relaxing. Lots of choice of food, snacks and drinks. The triple cooked chips are amazing. Whitebait lunch snack was also really good. Watch the wine offer, as the 2 glasses/get third free didn’t actually work for us! Rooms are clean but basic.
For the price point would expect more in the room. Good coffee and tea, but not much of each. However, no water provided, which I didn’t realise until I had gone to bed and needed to take medication! My room was lovely, but the bed is on a plinth with steps, so I slept with the light on as I was frightened of falling down the steps lol!
We were basically chucked out if the bar at 10.30 with no last orders (so couldn’t even get water for the room). Hydration stations are available in pub, but I didn’t feel I could come back down to bar to get water as staff were very keen to get rid of us to our rooms!!
We ate as a group of 10, with 7 very happy eaters. 2 of us were unhappy with the cooking of our dish, but we’re given a discount with no fuss at all, and was unexpected! 1 of the party had a very poor meal, but was refunded in full, with no fuss, she would have happily paid something, but staff insisted on full 100% discount which was very generous.

Excellent meal in the evening especially as I was slightly past the last orders time

Location was superb next to the River Exe. Restaurant is good.
The breakfast. Veggie sausage was so tough I couldn’t cut it. One mushroom that was tough, too. After breakfast I enquired where was the yogurt and told it was in the fridge but where was the fridge? It was self service so you had to do your own toast and tea.
The annex, where my friend had a bedroom, had outside window frames that were rotten. My floorboards creaked. Bathroom window was permanently open (couodnt close it if I’d wanted to) and the shower was hard to switch off. No walk-in shower.
