The location was excellent. Breakfast was lovely.
We paid for a superior kingsize room. When we got there, the room was not what we expected. The bed was definitely a kingsize, much was great. There was one chair tucked away in an alcove, which is unusual when two people stay in a room. The bathroom was as big as the bedroom, completely modified with a disabled toilet, the shower was an open space on the floor (no cubicle) with two curtains around it. No shelf to put your toothbrushes etc on. Worst of all, the smell was awful. It reminded me of a hospital bathroom.
I spoke to reception, who initially said there was nothing they could do as they were full. He then agreed to speak to the manager, who offered a downgraded double room, which we took. No offer of financial compensation for the downgrade. We paid Ā£300 for two nights.
The lift was broken for the whole of our second day. Goodness only knows how anyone staying in an adapted room on the top floor would have got up to it?
Disappointing overall.
