The food was the best we had in Scotland. The hotel and grounds were lovely and quiet. The staff was very helpful and always available.
The road to get to it was a little rough.

Kaitlyn and all the staff were exceptional.
Dinner on first night was very good. Breakfast was a quite different, a very basic experience.
Room was clean and comfortable.
The pungent smell at Reception on arrival and when descending stairs for meals is stomach-churning. Terrible first impression.
Extremely overpriced for accommodation and a building that is tired and dated (as opposed to romantic and atmospheric). Upstairs is poorly lit and dim. Furniture has water stains and Reception staff have to make do with terribly worn Reception furniture and hot water bottles and smelly dog bed behind them. However, Staff do a truly great job to keep the place ticking over, having to multi-skill all day.
The walks need to be on a narrow main road as there is no access to any paths alongside the Loch at bottom of the garden because it is a grimy marine industrial complex with sad, demountable and rather refugee-like accommodation for the back-packer staff who do a fine job when on duty but seemingly without professional, contemporary management backup. Beware the exceptional website and branding which over-promises but unfortunately for the price, the property overall under delivers.

The lounge and TV area was exceptional with an open fire and very comfortable. Bed was comfy. Room was warm. Shower was exceptional. Lots of plug points around the room.
Staff welcome could have been better. Rooms are basic and the hotel felt more like a guest house than a hotel. Way overpriced for what you get. Bar prices high. Property in need of modernisation and general maintenance. Late check in at 4pm means you only get 18hrs in the property. Driveway heavily potholed and in urgent need of repair. Totally unsuitable for sports cars!
