Jodie- the lovely young lady on reception. Very professional, great communication skills and very knowledgeable. Quirky rooms! Jodie upgraded me to a suite- stunning!
Location- walking distance to shops and Waverley railway station and St. James Quarter and Trams.
The noise. To be fair, when I booked I didn’t notice there is a nightclub in the basement of the hotel. Definitely a plus point for the younger travellers.
There were no instructions for all the electronics in the room, like the heating , tvs and the several lighting zone areas.
The dark haired gentleman with the beard, who was on reception a few times. No manner, personality or even a smile- unhelpful.

Perfect location, great ambiance, helpful staff
No one answers the front desk when you call from the room. I would have liked a room with a view and feel that you don’t get the best room, if you book via a booking site, instead of directly with the property

Great location on George Street. We like the old town but it gets very busy so chose this location for proximity to nice restaurants and bars - especially The Dome! For those people going on the tour buses, the main stop is a very short walk down the street. The staff here are all great - from check in to check out.
We stayed in the Paris room which was a great size and has a view over George Street. You do need to roll down the blinds though, if you're taking a shower or getting dressed as the windows don't have any frosting! The bath/shower/closet are separate to the loo which is a bonus although very little space next to the sink to put toilet bags etc. It is more suited to hand washing than a vanity. The lighting in the room is interesting - operated by a very unusual switch system. It took some fathoming out and worked sporadically for us. The lighting in the bathroom/closet isn't great either - especially if you need to have the blind down because of the very "open" windows. There's only really 2 accessible plug sockets in the room so worth taking a multiway adapter which you can plug your charging cables into.
Whilst little niggles, yes, it didn't spoil our stay - we regarded them as "quirks"!
If you're a light sleeper, you may be put off by some of the noise - the windows have secondary glazing but you can still hear noise from the basement nightclub. It didn't bother us though - the bed was so comfy that we were fast asleep super quickly!
The breakfast was lovely - we opted for the traditional fry up. It was well cooked, plentiful and hot.
Lack of space next to the sink. Lighting was difficult to figure out.

Spacious room
The stay was going well until the second night, when the heating stopped working. What followed was completely unacceptable.
I went downstairs at approximately 6pm to report the issue. A man who identified himself as the manager assured me that he would fix it, saying there was “no problem.”
By 10pm, nothing had been resolved, so I went downstairs again. This time, the same man appeared visibly intoxicated and, rather than dealing professionally with my complaint, began making inappropriate, flirtatious advances towards me. I was genuinely disgusted by his behaviour.
He then casually informed me that the heating wasn’t working and that all he could offer me was a blanket.
Leaving a paying guest without heating is unacceptable in itself, but having to deal with someone who appeared drunk and behaved inappropriately while supposedly managing the property is absolutely disgraceful.
What should have been a straightforward maintenance issue turned into an extremely unpleasant experience. The complete lack of professionalism, accountability and basic respect for guests was astonishing.
I would strongly discourage anyone from staying somewhere that considers this an acceptable standard of hospitality.
