Nice place, quiet, clean and just out of the way of downtown but close enough to bus stops sow we could take the bus to the Moscone. No need to drive!!
We really enjoyed staying here!
Thank you Howard:)

This ground floor unit provided the ideal means to eat, sleep and act as a base of operations in a very peaceful part of SF. The location provided local access to UCSF gym, Golden Gate Park, Farmers Market and lots of restaurants.
Be aware that the kitchen is tiny with half-height refrigerator and a bar sink. Also, the bathroom floor is very cold and does not have a light.
All told, this place served out purposes well. Thanks Howard!

Lovely retreat in the city, but away from the hustle and bustle. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and there were plenty of outlets to plug in all of our tech stuff. Would happily stay at Howard's place again on our next visit to San Francisco.

Howard was very communicative. The space is large and in a very walkable flat area.

The unit was spotless, the neighborhood was charming and safe, and the owner was immediately responsive.

I had a great stay! The location is great and the neighborhood is very quiet and pictureseque. I was impressed by the many thoughtful touches - nightlights, tissues, copious hangers, lots of kitchen supplies, and plenty of shelving and seating.

We enjoyed the excellent central / private (on a dead end street) location and Howard was a great host. He was communicative, friendly, and offered nice suggestions for places to go eat. We walked to a fun farmers market and Eats restaurant nearby. I highly recommend this spot!

It is a garage apartment on lower level. Nice space and simple needs to make visit pleasant. Easy accessibility to all areas we came to visit. Howard is a pleasure to communicate with and left nice visitor notes to find dining and introduce you to your surroundings.

Howard provided an excellent space in the ♡ of Lone mountain to explore USF and the surrounding area. Upon arrival, Howard greeted us and provided rental details. The rental was clean and perfectly appointed for our weekend in the city. There are many wonderful restaurants within an easy walk and Golden Gate Park is only a few blocks away. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the city.

Centrally located, very safe and secure neighborhood. Bed was comfortable and it was very peaceful and quiet. Having a garage in SF was really great! The place was cute and had all the important amenities.

Howard made everything work for us even down to the chocolate bars. We will be back.

Howard’s place was perfect for us. Our daughter lives within walking distance which was great. The bed was comfortable, amenities were as described and shown in the listing pictures. We appreciated the extras (tea, coffee, water, etc). Check in was super easy. Yes, the bathroom is small, but there are plenty of hooks and shelves which make it functional. Howard was kind and provided a great list of local restaurants, stores, and parks nearby. He said to call if we ever had any questions/concerns. We would stay there again.

We never ended up staying as once we got in and looked around, we knew enough that it wasn't for us (and certainly not for the price); In fairness, THE GOOD: Quiet apt, and in a great location near the Presidio and GG Park; It has a separate bedroom with a good-size closet; The owner Howard let us check in early. THE BAD: it's in a basement where you walk through the garage, and you can hear the owners upstairs. Not the end of the world, but there is no deadbolt on the door so doesn't feel super secure. Also right after we checked in, the owner came down and knocked on the door and called out to us and we had to interact with him (some people like this "BnB" feeling-we prefer not to have to interact). The shower is about 1.5 feet x 2 feet (no shocker that it didn't make it into the listing photos). The chairs, which are listed in the photos (but I didn't notice), are plastic lawn chairs; The linens felt old and while they appear clean, there was just a general feeling of discomfort by being in the apartment. We told the host prior to 3pm on the day of Check-In that we would not be staying there (we had a 3 night reservation). He took the keys back and although I requested a partial refund, he refused. We booked a nice hotel in Union Square for literally the same price as this place (which we then had a gym, daily cleaning, etc.). Again, in fairness, if you are younger or if location matters more and you can tolerate a darker and dated apartment in a house (where you can hear everything the owners are doing upstairs), then the place is fine (but even then, honestly this place should be less than $125/night). Otherwise, would avoid.

First this was listed as being in Sausalito which it is not. It’s in San Francisco. That wasn’t the hosts fault but be careful when you’re booking through VRBO. Nice neighborhood but place is in a basement. Dark with low ceilings. Very inadequate kitchen. Really not a kitchen at all just microwave and coffee maker. It was clean but not at all what we were expecting for the money. With all the extra fees tagged on we could have stayed at a very nice hotel

Great home and location for an extended stay in the Bay Area. Walking distance (or very short ride) to everything in SF. Howard was great with easy check in, helping with anything needed and the emergency umbrella!

This was our third time back at Harold’s modest basement unit. It is safe, quiet, in a convenient location, close to bus connections, affordable and close to Golden Gate Park. Since we are usually out during the day to visit family and friends so this unit is all we need for our visits. It is clean, the beds are comfortable, it has a microwave and small refrigerator, extra towels, Wi-Fi, TV, water bottles, tea, coffee, cups, bowls and flatware; and hot chocolate! Howard provides a list of restaurants, bakeries, activities, neighborhood services, and this time he gave us a great recommendation for a Mexican restaurant and all are within walking distance.
We are glad we came back again to this modest unit and will do so in the future.

Had a great stay at this property - fit our needs very well. We were doing a show at Fort Mason and needed a spot reasonably close and with safe overnight parking. Host was great. Will book again in the future.

We really enjoyed our stay. One of the most comfortable beds we've ever had away from home! Perfect for spreading out and kitchenette was great for enjoying a hot cup of coffee/simple breakfast before heading out to enjoy the sights. Howard was very welcoming and we would gladly stay here on future visits to San Francisco!

Nice little apartment that is close to anything you may need. Having a garage to park was a great addition to our stay. It was within walking distance to our daughter's apartment which was very nice. Howard the host was very helpful and responsive to our needs. We will stay here again when we visit the area.

This was a great place for us to stay in San Francisco for 4 nights. A little tight for 4 adults but the owner warned us in advance that it would be. Good restaurants nearby and not too far from Golden Gate Park.

Property was in a pretty good location, and good value for the price. Definitely not super new or anything, but not lacking in any regard. Free water and some other essentials, which was nice.
