What has been rarely said is that this hotel is stocked with Refa amenities and hair dryer. So I got to try it out for myself to see what the deal is. And I can see why it's a big deal.
The rooms are large clean and well appointed. The comforter and pillows really allow for a good night's rest. The washing machine and dryer is a big plus for me. The hotel is located just off the main Street and within walking distance to places of interest. The Museum of Kyoto is just 200m away and so is NHK Kyoto.
Whilst the rooms are big (for Japan), there are extra amenities at the lobby that you can pick up. There's also a foot bath and a communal area for free beverages ans even sake!
But you really know that the service is good when you put your luggage there before check in and they are in your room when you finally do.
I will definitely choose to stay here again
Nothing about the hotel at all. But I think guests should know that they need to be strong to carry their luggage up and down the stairs to the train station. I avoided it totally by taking the bus from Sinpuhkan on my return journey just to avoid the 4 flights of steps within the station and when exiting.

The location is great, easy access to train stations, food options and site seeing all within walking distance. The room is large, spacious and very modern. Plenty of space to open luggages and organize shopping. Staff were very helpful and kind.
The lobby bathroom amenities are clean but could do with some maintenance. The faucet/tap is wobbly. And the sink and water/coffee machine in the lobby is used often by guests, needed some cleaning and maintenance.
