From the moment we stepped through the door. The reception staff made every attempt to ensure you felt welcome. The free demonstration on how to make punch was fun and tasty to boot.
The decor was high end and mixed modern convenience and tastfully preserved history of a magnificent building.
The room and cleaning team are second to none and maintained a level of cleanliness that you would expect from a high end hotel.
Special mention should got to the head chef and kitchen staff who prduced obe of the finest meals I've had lots of choice and taste.
Their efforts paid off . How? Well what was initially a.special treat for my wifes birthday has turned into a must return to enjoy the service the Hotel and staff provide. I did point out to my wife that it was my birthday next.
Honestly there was nothing we could point at that we didn't like

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous inside and out - and staff are very friendly, accessible, and informative. It's lovely just to wander around and admire the architecture.
This is the first hotel that had ever outright given me a discount at checkout due to issues encountered. I didn't even have to mention it.
It seems to just be a thing in the UK in general but the bed was quite hard. The lighting was also quite ddim in the room. We also had some noisy party neighbors that woke us around 1-2am. Staff did deal with it but took some time after calling. It was really disappointing as you'd expect a higher class hotel to be better for sleep.

Very impressive ! Very grand . The breakfast was nice .
No air conditioning and the dining options seemed very non cohesive . Each was a separate entity from the hotel . Generally staff were ok, some were good and many others were very stand-off ish /snobby (especially at the restaurants) which in the service industry just doesn’t work.
