The Traditional Ryokan style facility was great! Loved the rooms, the Onsen and the delicious menu provided.

Amazing view over the lake Ashi, overseeing Mount Fuji. The staff was so lovely and polite and we had a great experience with kaiseki dinner. Truly unforgettable stay! We would love to come back one day!
The bathroom was the one area that I felt would benefit from refurbishment. While I appreciated that the property is intentionally maintained in a traditional Japanese style, the bathroom itself felt rather dated. Some renovation would make a significant difference while still preserving the traditional character of the hotel.

Japanese style, soft tatami floors, gorgeous view, warm onsen.
The old smell in the room, the slightly humid feeling and smell from the futon, which made it almost impossible to fall asleep; quite neutral/indifferent service - not a Japanese hospitality one would hope for considering the price.
The food was so so. The onsens were nice but the facilities need maintenance. The women’s onsen outdoors had ugly plastic shields, ruining the view and giving a very cheap feeling. Dirty curtains at the entrance to the onsens 😣. The whole hotel needs some refreshing.
The location is a bit of a middle of nowhere, which was the point, but unfortunately there are much less outdoor activities than we would expect - too little infrastructure.
