This is a good (and maybe only) place to stay is you're going to visit the Takeda Castle ruins, known as Japan's Machu Picchu (although interesting, it doesn't compare at all). For a small hotel in an out-of-the-way place, the restaurant is surprisingly good. This hotel is built in a former sake brewery and they offer a selection of free sake in their small lounge. We asked in advance for a table with a view of the castle. There was only one and they gave it to us. The castle ruins are illuminated at night and looked great from our vantage point in the dining room during dinner.
Our room was across the street in a minimally-renovated building with rammed earth walls, cement floors and very low doors. Although the bed clothes and bathroom were nice and clean, they need to fill whatever cracks still exist in the walls and ceiling since there were bat droppings and some dust in the bedroom. There is also a tram line right beside the main hotel, which might be noisy for the rooms in that building.

The food was wonderful and the staff were very kind.
The rooms are not in the hotel but spread around the town. Ours was more than 5 minutes walk to the hotel for meals. It was on the edge of a road which was very noisy and people could look straight into the room if the blinds were not closed. The bedroom was up a steep ladder staircase which made going to the toilet difficult at night.
