Amazing staff, beautiful location and gorgeous food.
The first night we didn't get any sleep. There was a very loud noise outside our room, it turns out it was the generator from the building next door. We complained and we were moved to another room. We could still hear the noise but thankfully not as much as in the original room and we did manage to sleep through it.

lors de notre arrivée ; on nous a demandé de laisser nos clefs de voiture a la réception pour pouvoir mettre ailleurs notre voiture si jamais il y avait des clients pour le beach club , nous avons bien entendu strictement refusé et ils ont finis par accepté ( en voyant avec la responsable ) .
On nous a également prit notre numéro de carte ( noté sur une feuille volante ) mais aussi la date d’expiration et même notre code a 3 chiffres ! comme ´´ garantit ´´ si on cassé quelque chose … je me suis indigné et refuser une tel chose , une emprunte bancaire aurait suffit ! je n’ai jamais vu cela de ma vie .. noter l’entièreté de mes codes de cartes bleu … elle a fini par accepté après de longue minutes de négociation que je raye mon code à 3 chiffres ..
le reste de l’hôtel était super dommage pour cette mauvaise expérience du début qui finalement c’est bien terminé .

Das Hotel liegt mitten in der Hotelzone in Tulum und direkt am Strand. Die Strandlage ist perfekt und wunderschön, die Hotelzone ist gewöhnungsbedürftig. Die Zimmer sind ein Traum, super eingerichtet, groß aber die Oceanview war es nicht weil die vegetation davor das verhinderte, was an sich jedoch nicht schlimm war. Ich kann also das Hotel für die Zimmer, die Strandlage sehr empfehlen.
Die Preise sind absurd hoch. Ein Burger für mehr als 25 €, cocktails 15 €. Das Frühtsück ist inklusive aber begrenzt auf eine Auswahl. Bei ca. 600 € das Zimmer erwarte ich kein "begrenztes Frühstück". Bei der Ankunft um 2 pm war das zimmer nicht fertig, was OK ist, weil 3 PM ausgemacht ist. Statt uns einen welcome Drink anzubieten wurden wir ins Restaurant geschickt, wo uns eben diese Wahnsinnspreise erwarteten. Am Tag vor der Abreise bekamen wir eine Whatsapp, dass das Hotel nach dem Auschecken 15 Minuten braucht um zu prüfen, ob wir Schäden im Zimmer verursacht haben, ob wir was mitgenommen hätten oder was vergessen hätten. Das ist für mich ein totaler Vertrauensbruch. Das hängt mit der Partyklientel zusammen, das meist über das Wochenende kommt. Da muss das Hotel die Kommunikation differenzieren. Am Abend ein anderes Restaurant auszusuchen ist schwierig, es ist draußen einfach eine Partyzone, es fahren unentwegt Autos hin und her, es gibt keinen gescheiden Bürgersteig und alle Restaurants sind auf Partygäste vorbereitet, kaum normale Restaurant mit normalen Preisen. Das Personal wirkt arrogant und nicht zuvorkommend.

The location and the beach and the all restaurant personal was great.
Our room was uninhabitable due to a strong, toxic smell from heavy chemical treatment, which had permeated all the bedding sheets. The resolution process became extremely uncomfortable with the reception/management, as they insisted on charging for a room exchange, adding to the inconvenience of moving. We had to argue and provide evidence that the room was not livable. Despite their claims, we later discovered it was a monthly treatment conducted upon our arrival. In any case, for the high cost of the hotel, resolving such issues should be a seamless and pleasant experience, rather than making clients feel uncomfortable and ruining their vacation with a bad taste.

The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable regarding the happenings of each day/night on the Tulum strip. My girlfriend and I loved the boutique feel of the hotel and the personal attention we received.

This property is truly a gem! Tulum can get pretty crazy, and it's nice that this hotel is tucked away and feels like a secluded piece of paradise where you can party or relax, it's up to you :) The food and drinks are truly incredible! The Staff is amazing and even was willing to make a few items off the menu when we were craving some grilled shrimp or some special eggs.

The natural vibe of the hotel was stunning. The beach was clean and food was amazing. The bedroom pool was bigger than expected and the rooms were kept immaculate. The staffs professionalism when we had an issue with our safe was admired. We were celebrating our honeymoon and a bottle of wine dropped up on arrival was a lovely touch
We felt a different energy from the beach staff when we weren’t spending or tipping a lot of money. The main pool was also very small and discrepancies each morning over what was included in the breakfast.

I visited the property during the beginning of July and cannot fault the hotel or the staff at all. I predominantly was visiting the hotel to propose to my girlfriend on the beach, the staff were unbelievably helpful in supporting the organisation of the day but also complimentary throughout my stay. The food is absolutely outstanding and surprised me as to just how good it was. Special shout-out to Zacil who was extremely prompt in responding to any queries and issues as well as Jose from the breakfast staff for accommodating all our requests and the top service.
I had an unforgettable experience as it will always be where I got engaged to my partner but also memorable for just how special the staff made the occasion!
I wasn’t expecting as much seaweed on the beach!

All of the food and drinks served in the hotel restaurant were exceptional. There wasn't a single item on the menu I tried that wasn't delicious. The hotel was quiet and clean, not a place for partying, which is precisely what we were looking for in a relaxing getaway. It's a little ways away from both Tulum City and the main chunk of restaurants/nightlife, but you can quickly travel by foot, taxi, bike, or scooter to anywhere you need to get. We walked south to restaurants several times, and it was no big deal. The staff was so gracious and attentive. We were very comfortable and well taken care of the entire time.
The whole area where the hotel is located is more expensive in general. Once you travel to town, the prices drop considerably.

Despite stays in 5* resorts around the world, we have never felt so cared for regarding food as we have at Ma’xanab. Rather than feeling like an inconvenience and having limited options that are never really that great, Fabiola and Gerardo went out of their way to create incredible food options to ensure we had the same dining experience as other guests and a bonus; the food was incredible!
All in all, we had a wonderful stay; the standard of care at a Ma’xanab was excellent, communication was fast and the service was amazing.
At the price you pay, I would expect a better transportation service with regards to transport in and out of Tulum Pueblo. A bike is a pleasant ‘extra’ but not exactly the best transportation in 35C and 90% humidity. The road is awful and on a low rider bike with no gears means a ‘15 minute’ bike ride takes more like 30 minutes. The whole situation is miserable, and we left more tired and sore than I did when I arrived.
The hotel should offer a shuttle that takes you in and out of town at certain points of the day. This is the most sustainable option as it means guest would not pay (outrageously) to get taxis instead. It would have been easier to get to Tulum if we had stayed in Playa del Carmen as hotels there offer free shuttles daily.
It’s such a shame as this is the only thing that made our stay uncomfortable and more difficult than it had to be. Everything else was perfect.

Beautiful gorgeous property with all the bells and whistles. Right on the beach. Perfect location. The room was amazing. The food was delicious. The staff was 5 star and very helpful with accommodating us. The service was absolutely wonderful. My wife and I will definitely coming back to stay here

A bit tired, in need of a renovation and pretty overpriced for what it was. Waiting staff at pool try to add extra tips onto drinks service and very pushy for tips. Makes you feel uncomfortable especially when you aren’t use to tipping. Doesn’t feel very relaxing

The property is small and intimate, which meant I had the staff’s undivided attention. The front desk team — Claudio and Dyanne —responded to requests quickly and efficiently at all times, and provided excellent recommendations for places to dine based on knowing my interests. The restaurant/beach staff were wonderful and especially Jose and Gabriel who made me feel pampered.
the rooms were beautifully designed and all comforts and amenities were available. I especially loved the outdoor shower and private patio area.
I can’t recommend Ma’xanab more for a stay in Tulum.

all staff outside of manager was exceptional, truly. especially the pool and front desk. brilliant. property, Loveky upgraded room at a fair price, thank you. Found the inflexibility on an hours late check out both disappointing and slightly short / rude from one of the ladies on front desk considering there is so much availability still. no drinks or towel upon arrival - a standard at a 5star hotel. food and drinks 10/10. 100% would return - great place and team. thank you!!

Breakfast included was wonderful - lots of traditional Mexican options as well as usual breakfast options. Food from the restaurant in the beach club was fantastic and very photogenic! We were a party of 6 and tried various dishes all of which were good portion sizes and delicious. Cocktails were also great.
Beach club itself was beautiful, good music playing and very relaxing in comparison to Playa Del Carmen where we'd been previously.
Rooms were a great size - we had a jungle view room. The balcony area was great with a day bed and a nice heated pool for use after a day at the beach. We had the high, thatched roof which we'd read a bad review about previously in relation to insects, but we had no issues at all with bugs during our stay, aside from a rogue raccoon on the balcony!
Check in was easy and staff on the front desk were lovely and so helpful.
We were only there a few nights and didn't explore too much but location was good, on the beach front with a number of other beach clubs and restaurants within walking distance.
The hotel itself, whilst expensive, was beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay.
I hate to say this as it was otherwise a perfect stay, but it was so expensive. Cocktails and food were way above prices here in Australia (which is generally pretty expensive) and we weren't expecting that. It meant that a day at the beach club turned into a very expensive day, particularly as no outside drinks were allowed (understandable)! We're talking $50 for a burger or club sandwich which is excessive.Whilst breakfast was beautifully served, anything extra like a side of toast or more OJ, would be added to your bill, so keep this in mind as it all adds up! We paid as we went so that we didn't get a shock with the room bill on check out!
It's also a very 'instagrammable' spot so expect the pool to be filled with people taking hundreds of photos. I suspect this type of popularity has led to the increase in costs.
Also all tap/ shower water in the rooms was salt water so make sure you get extra

Loved everything about the holiday although down the road in Hotelito Azul Tulum we were charged over 100 EURO for water and food that never arrived so definitely delighted we stayed here. The staff were brilliant!

Rooms are very spacious, clean and well furnished.
Complimentary delivery of breakfast to the room is also a pleasant feature.
