Outrigger has a business of overselling their rooms and this when we arrived at 10:30Pm they conveniently told us that our reservation was cancelled. The night manager on duty had the worst attitude with 0 inclination to help and look for solutions. We gave them both our ids and showed the hotel reservation confirmation. But they said they can’t find a reservation and the only one they can see is cancelled. I even showed the 4-5 emails that I received from the property and still nothing, we asked them to check both our names and they didn’t bother. The two people in the reception desk were so rude and non helpful. They basically told us they are full and to call hotels.com to go to another property. We did not have good cell reception and the receptionist didn’t want to help by giving wifi access stating it’s for guests with reservations. 3 hrs on the phone with hotels.com didn’t help get a booking for that night so we ended up booking direct with another property (and paying a lot more last minute). We were outside outrigger for a few hours and around 1 am, the hotel manager comes to us with an offer that if we pay direct/cash (2X what we booked before) they can give us a room. Worst thing in all of this is the audacity of outrigger to charge us for the stay the next day and marking us as a no-show. We called the next day and the day agent said yup I see the reservation and it’s marked as you didn’t show. Basically a scammy overselling resort. Stay clear!!

Great resort experience. Facility very clean and in good condition. Restaurant server, Jas, excellent and made dinner very enjoyable. Best onion soup ever. Location near airport convenient for early morning departures.

The service was great, everything from check in, to bar, restaurant. Staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms look like they could use a serious update, very worn and dated. The room was clean, just tired. This stay was only for a night to be closer to the airport. It was perfect for that purpose.

This hotel is wonderfully located on the eastern side of the island right at the beach. While you can’t really swim in the beach near the hotel it’s still really beautiful and enjoyable to walk along. Several pools and hot tubs are available and the grounds are very well-maintained. The bed was a little springy but soft enough to make me happy. The linens were OK. The bathroom definitely needs to be updated. While you can’t really avoid this anywhere on the island, there were certainly plenty of roosters that you heard early in the morning at the hotel.

All in all a good stay. Surprised the restaurants were not available all day. No room service made no sense.

Nice place and not very crowded. It is not a Hilton but it is nice and a little more of a cozy feel. Staff was friendly. It is on the beach but there are large waves and it is very rocky so if you want a calm beach where you can go in the water this is not that place. The restaurants are tasty and the prices are fair. Same as any nice restaurant. The gift shop is crazy expensive.

We had no hot water in our shower for four days… Mentioned it to hotel staff repeatedly. Overall condition of the hotel was poor! The staff was not very accommodating.

I was visiting Hawaii for a wedding and needed to find last-minute lodging for one evening due to a travel change. Outrigger is a lovely resort with excellent rooms. However, potential guests should know the waterfront directly in front of the resort is not swimmable as there is a rock wall in the water. There is a beach at the adjacent property. The pool water was cold, and there was a lot of debris (bugs and leaves) in it. Not enough chairs were provided around the pool, making it challenging to lounge near it. I witnessed the pool bar staff dismissing a guest sitting next to me, which I would not expect from a high-end resort. The spa was fully booked, so we could not use it. However, it looked very nice. This review might be a little jaded as our travel companions booked their extra evening at Kauai Shores Hotel, which is five minutes away. Kauai Shores would have been a much better option for the money. We spent time at their resort, and it was so much more fun with friendly staff, fantastic drinks, and a courtyard on the beach with a unique vibe. When we visited them at Kauai Shores, we felt we had made a mistake while staying at Outrigger.
