Bed was very uncomfortable hard and hurt my back, tub in our room needs to be cleaned a bit better for sanitary purposes

Shocked at what almost 300$ a night paid for. We arrived and got to our room, (next to the supply closet) which i didnt think was an issue until maintenance kept opening and shutting the door w their keys, whis was directly on the other side of our headboard. Speaking of headboard, we paid for a queen, and the bed is clearly a full size. They dont even offer a full size! The walls are so thin you can hear anything and everything... The room had a nasty smell. I opened the windows and sprayed some body spray. Went to put my water in the fridge, which was plugged in and did NOT work. Not sure if the air units are supposed to work, but ours did NOT. Went to take a shower the next morning, the diverter in the tub spout, STUCK. Took wiggling and what not to try and get the tab up, FINALLY. Barely any air circulation.. and with the no air unit , hot. And lastly, we went to check in, my husband asked if there was anything fun to do around there and the receptionist followed with a NO, and that it basically a place for people to retire, and unless you like hiking and boating, there's nothing. Thanks Mariposa

The room, with fireplace and super comfortable beds was lovely and the pool was a perfect place to sit and read a book (it was a bit too chilly to swim that day). The dog area was super convenient to access. The only downside was that the hot tub was closed for maintenance…and we were hoping to use it! Overall a very nice place!

This was a rare find and I took a chance on a non name brand hotel. I was surprised and happy we did. The pictures did not Lie!!
The room was clean ,my hot gf was rocking her robe as i layed by the fire place I'd say a 10 out of 10. would recommend to a friend. The decor brought our aquarium experiences right to the room. I loved the octopussies on the wall. The pool and hot tub was top tier. They were working!.. And Free breakfast to go. Also found out it was doggie friendly, its the nices hotel on the strip. Super convenient off the main street. Stores and food. This is the spot.

Very nice stay! Lovely boutique style property conveniently located.

Hotel is very run down. It looks like it would have been nice when it first opened. Walls need patched and repainted, the bathrooms did not look clean. The hot tub was always green and cloudy. The pool is not heated. The breakfast is just bagels, toast, oatmeal packets, and cereal. Cleaning is only once a week. We did enjoy the townhouse having two sleeping areas, but the Murphy bed runs into the desk so you have to have it up for a clear walk way to the door. Security was an issue for me, no key card to go up the elevator, pool area, or into our hallway, it was all disabled. A housekeepers dog chased my kid through the garage, yelling at her kid to go get it.

The hotel was nice but the beds weren’t very comfortable and the fridge wasn’t cold. Other than that it’s pretty clean and well kept.

The stay was great. Free breakfast a real bonus and really quiet considering how close to the road we were. The real star was Mario who helped us to get a cell phone back that we had left in the room. We were messaged quickly but were already 170 miles away so he arranged UPS to pick it up and bring it to us. What a star!

The area was nice and quiet. About 2&1/2 miles from downtown fisherman’s wharf and aquarium. The King Suite was overall nice but dated. The mattress was very uncomfortable. The double shower was beautiful but only one shower worked. For a romantic getaway, it was ok but would have paid more for an upgraded room.

WiFi didn’t work and I needed it to book ongoing travel. I ended up spending over an hour dealing with their tech support trying to get it fixed. They promised to send someone up to the room to fix it. Nobody came. Not a relaxing way to spend my short stay at this place. As I entered the room I saw a piece of paper on the bedroom desk that suggested I call off-site tech support for WiFi issues so they know they have problems. They shouldn’t promise WiFi.

The room was nice and actually looked like the pictures. It was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was also well stocked and clean. The coffee was great! Overall a very nice place to stay. We will stay there again when we return to Monterey.

I reviewed on Yelp- I would 100% recommend Mariposa inn and suites to friends! Spacious, clean, so many amenities (we love amenities!). Upstairs and downstairs townhouse, 2 bathrooms, one with tub/shower, one with shower. 2 cable TV’s, mini fridge, microwave, hair dryer in each bathroom. Gym day pass for nearby. We loved it!

It was a lovely stay!! Highly recommend this place. It’s only 5min or less from downtown and really great value for the price. The room was spacious, clean, with a cute fireplace, and the beds were comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!

The hotel itself is great with a shopping mall right across the way. The room was nice but the fridge was loud as heck. We had to shove a towel into the compartment where the fridge was so we could sleep in peace.

I had stayed here several years ago and had a positive experience. We decided to return here and were disappointed by our stay. When we entered our room it smelled extremely strong of bleach and cleaning supplies. Just before using the shower, I discovered huge amount of long dark hair on the shower walls…obviously had not been cleaned prior to our stay. The bed was extremely hard/firm. We like firm bed but this felt like you were sleeping on the ground. We will not be staying there again.

Nice staff but the room was run down. Curtains falling off the rail, lamp flickers on night stand, Water dribbles out of the sink fixture, Barking dogs next room over, mattress moves on its pedestal and springs squeak.

It was nice for the most part - minimal service - power went out due to storm and was thinking it would've been nice to check on guests, make sure they had lights, etc. that didn't happen - tree fell near room - the Continental breakfast was bleak -
Room was nice - deck was beautiful and enjoyed the hot tub!

We stayed for two nights on a longer 1 month trip. Good location across from shops and some eateries.
The hotel room was comfortable enough. Breakfast was fine. Too much single use plastic, which needs to improve.

The property was in good condition, but definitely in need of some upgrades, especially the bathrooms. I stayed in room 201 and I kept hearing a banging sound in the wall throughout the night like clockwork. It almost sounded like a rat trap inside the wall. It kept waking us up and my dog couldn’t sleep.
2.0
Ok; but with a Laissez-faire management style that permitted no cleaning of rooms coupled with your picking up room supplies like towels and bath mats yourself if you wanted them replaced. The breakfast nook was also unsupervised. Not exemplary service!

Intial room - heater remote did not work. Took a minute and a different room assigned. Very diplomatic. Professional and polite.
The pool/ hot tub and fire pits were closed by 9. It would Be nice if available to 10 provided all kept quiet.
Clean. Nice grounds. I will return!

This is a cute place. Yes, I think they have had some good upgrades, but there are some improvements that can also be made. Some wear and tear on the place. There was damage to the headboard, rust in the bathroom, our heater was either on or off... no matter what the temp it was hot! They have a nice fireplace, and nice robes also. Landscape was nicely maintained. No cleaning of room while you stay there. Basic breakfast. Hot tub didn't work the first night, but worked the second night. 8p.m. cut off for the pool/hot tub was early for a vacation spot. Would have loved 9 pm or even 10! I would stay there again. My one complaint really was I had a smell of chlorine/bleach whenever I left my room or near the breakfast room. I don't know if it was because our room was near the pump house/where they kept chemicals, but that was it. P.S. would agree with what others said.... the beds are hard.

The hotel pictures are not up to date. The hotel was super small and torn down. If it hadn’t been for NYE I would’ve asked for a full refund. For $230 4pm check in and 11 am check out a motel 6 I felt like would’ve been more up to par. The bathroom mirror was graffiti and the bed had tearing. The luxury couch was a leg apart from the bed. Wasn’t anything like the photos.

The staff at the check in desk was very rude. She seemed like she did not want to be there. Upon getting our keys to the room found multiple Cobb webs on the walls and ceiling. Light would start flickering when you turn it on. One of the lamps was broken. Was hoping breakfast would have a little more options (eggs). The price and ratings of the room did not live to the expectation.

we have a horrible stay here. There is no vent fan in bathroom and it was suffocating when we bath. There is a small part of roof covered with glass where we can hear the rain drop hitting that glass whole night. Last but not least, their breakfast was bad. No eggs, no potatoes, no waffles. They just have bread, bagles and coffee. And they dont have lids for coffee cups. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

My husband and I stayed in the suite for our 1 year anniversary and we were welcomed with beautiful swan towels. The room was very clean upon arrival and amenities were great. We thoroughly enjoyed waking up to breakfast downstairs that helped us start our day. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely consider coming back for another stay!

Breakfast? Why bother iffering what you offered. Who eats that junk.

The room was clean but the bed so hard and the blanket, pillows and towels smells too much Clorox. It was a short get away but not going back to stay.

It's was a nice stay in upgraded well maintained room. No more carpet !! The only thing didn't feel right was bed.... too firm. But for some might be a good thing. Otherwise it was nice accommodated stay

Our first stay here was enjoyable. The grounds are very attractive, and I appreciated that. The room was sparkling clean and comfortable. The breakfast was forgettable but the location was very convenient for us. Access is easy to the rest of Monterey.
