Ruedihus is an unique place. A Swiss-built home dating from 1753 and made from timber in the outskirts of Kandersteg, it has an atmosphere of its own. If you want something special to remember rather than a bland, expensive, impersonal hotel, this is for you! We stayed 3 nights in the attic room 609. The twinkling of the cow bells in the evening, the quiet rooms which are almost museums of history and the delightfully cheerful staff all made our stay truly memorable. In warm summer evenings you can dine outside and wander around the aromic Ricola herb garden. Breakfast is relaxed and uncrowded with personal service. Thoroughly recommended; this is a very special place indeed. While it's a pleasant 1 km walk into town, the location is ideal for many of the hikes e.g. to Donderhornhütte, the Gasterntal valley and the Sunnbüel cable car. What a great place!
It is hard to criticise anything, bearing in mind this is not a resort hotel with a spa, super-fast Wifi or even a bar and 24/7 reception area. When you arrive, for example in our case at 7pm due to traffic delays, you enter the dining room and have to patiently wait for the staff to stop serving dinner to give you your room key. It's the first stage of adjustment you need to make to adapt to the relaxed atmosphere. Adjust and relax - it's worth the effort!

es ist ein Traditionshaus - ohne TV auf dem Zimmer - Bäder auch "historisch", Einrichtung etc.
Das Personal ist sehr nett, Abendessen im Restaurant -, sehr schöne Schweizer STUBE - allerdings hatten wir das Essen tatsächlich viel besser in Erinnerung. - sehr schade -
Die Frühstücksauswahl wird recht schön auf einer Etagere angerichtet , frische Eierspeisen werden auf Wunsch frisch & lecker zubereitet. kleine weitere Auswahl am Buffet.
Es war nicht klar ersichtlich, dass die Zimmer nicht BARRIEREFREI zugängig sind . da wir meine Mutter - 81 - dabei hatten- mussten wir das Zimmer umbuchen - ( obwohl das Haus nicht mal 50% - gebucht war - um ebenerdig mit möglichst wenig Stufen - ( allerdings zum Badezimmer dann doch wieder schwierig ) einen Aufpreis von CHF 90 / Zimmer Nacht bezahlen. - wir hatten auch das Angebot im dazugehörigen Waldhotel zu nächtigen - hier hätten wir allerdings ebenfalls pro Zimmer Nacht EUR 90 CHF aufzahlen müssen !!! ( für 1 Nacht - Stopover - ) wir hatten bereits 465 CHF für EZ bezahlt. Ich finde hier hätte man wesentlich kulanter sein können. Umständlich ist es auch - dass man dann zum Check out wieder in das ggü.liegende Hotel muss -. , dieses ist aber Augenscheinlich wirklich traumhaft schön. Generell ist auffallend, wie freundlich das Schweizer Personal ist - unsere Reise ging weiter nach Zermatt :)
