Livermead House Hotel

Excellent food & service and brilliant music when dining .

The 1 night, that we booked, we would of preferred to stay longer

location and accessibility to central town area, and seafront etc.

The whole hotel and interior of the rooms appeared to be a little bit dated, and could do with updating.

Hotel kept many traditional features. The dining room table settings were immaculate, and there was even a pianist during evening meals. The staff were very courteous and impeccably dressed. The swimming pool area was a welcome addition.

Location was easy to find being on the main road however room on the front can pick up road noise when the windows are open.

The location between central Torquay and Paignton is nice, it is next to the sea. The hotel had a lot of character and was from a definite age.

The hotel is old, and needs a lot of attention, that I am sure needs a vast amount of money. The showers in the room were inadequate, though the tiles looked decent. The room was incredibly hot, even with the window open fully through the night when the temperature fell and it was rainy! Really uncomfortable. The description of the room at the time of booking said each room had sauna and hot tub. You might be relieved to hear this is obviously not the case - But I wonder if a disgruntled former employee typed this in the description of the rooms - the room certainly felt like a sauna overnight! We could not find where the heat was coming from. There is a lack of information and direction in the hotel. There was a pool/billiard room advertised - but no sign posting in the hotel. I want clear directions for bars, restaurants, etc! One corridor we walked down was full of cardboard boxes, where they were obviously doing work (never ending repairs I am sure). I hate having to ask at reception for something that could easily be included in a welcome sheet or information provided in the room. When I parked I noticed there were ANPR cameras in part of the car park, but not in the part I parked in and I did not go past the cameras. There were some strange A4 paper signs taped to some walls near the entrance that seemed to be about parking - but again it was not clear and made no sense. Possibly the signs were intended for anyone choosing to simply eat/drink at the hotel. I of course then asked reception about parking later in the evening (having seen cameras and signs) having seen no information in the room or anywhere else. I was told it was £5 for residents to park overnight. So I paid £5. The receptionist could have £10, £50 - there was no official evidence of the overnight parking charge. Really not happy with the hotel and the whole experience, thankfully only stayed one night, felt sorry for the coach groups staying longer.
