An enchanting retreat where time seems to stand still. Staying at The Green in Wingfield felt like stepping straight onto the set of Downton Abbey—an experience steeped in elegance, meticulous care, and extraordinary taste.
The restoration work is simply magnificent, beautifully enhanced by a choice selection of wonderful antiques that lend a unique charm to every corner. Outside, the immaculately kept garden provides a perfectly serene haven to relax in.
Every aspect of our stay was impeccable:
• The breakfast: Nothing short of sublime and exceptional in quality.
• The hospitality: Claire and Aurelius offer discrete, warm hostship—always present and ready to share invaluable local tips with rare grace.
You can truly tell when a place is run with real love and passion. Heartfelt compliments to Claire and Aurelius for creating such a special sanctuary, the kind of place you cannot wait to return to time and time again.

This is nothing but delight to write about the Green - probably the most exceptional hotel I have ever stayed in. Located in a manor house surrounded by a historic park. Manor renovated and refurbished only recently with such care, taste and diligence that the effect is stunning. Fantastic furniture, fabrics, paintings, rugs, lamps. Rooms spacious, full of light coming through multiple (original) windows. Big bathing rooms. Fire places. Super comfortable beds with Egyptian linen. Thorough information on local specialities and places of interest. Beside the beautifully furnished rooms there are many common spaces guests may use: drawing room with fabulous views into the garden, front room, honesty bar available at all time. The Green Hotel is cosy (five rooms, each different) which makes guests feel absolutely at home. A luxurious one. The owners, fantastic Clare and Aurelius, tend to the hotel guests as if they were guests coming to their home. Breakfasts are freshly prepared, beautifully presented and taste like heaven! Some produce come from the manor's kitchen garden. It is a quiet neighborhood. A dream place to relax with a book on a drawing room sofa or on a terrace under old magnolia tree, or to return to after a day exploring the nearby wonders: magnificent gardens, Bradford-on-Avon, Bath...

A beautiful house in a gorgeous, peaceful setting. Our room was extremely comfortable, breakfast was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. We loved having the opportunity to explore the gardens too. The Green has so much character and was a really special place to stay….we only wish we’d been staying longer!
