Great location downtown, walkable from the port area of Montreal. Room was basic but comfortable

I always stay at this place when in Montreal, its clean and in a convenient area for my work.
The property deducted some money from my account before I travelled even though it was a "Pay at the property" booking and it was within free cancelation. They said if there is a cancellation then they will refund, which is inconvenient considering bank charges etc. So what you get back is less than what you paid. Granted, I didn't cancel, but I feel this is cheating customers who book with certain conditions only for the conditions to change later!

The hotel is old and needs improvements. The room 921 is tiny, I was alone though.
The breakfast was ridiculous, there was no cheese of any kind, the fruit was not good, the pinapple impossible to eat so acid it was, the same with the melon. Hot milk inexistent, eggs only cooked.
Yesterday, there was a problem with the elevators which took me to go down with the luggage - 9 floors. Reception staff professional but not kind.
I won’t be back and will tell my friends Travelodge Wyndham is a big NO.
