Lovely old original Philadelphia home, now a hotel. It is well maintained and clean with appropriate furnishings and linen.
Staff is friendly and informed. Breakfast is above average self service.

This hotel is a wonderful historic building located a block away from Independence Hall and easy access to many historic sites. The room was comfortable, and we would gladly stay here again.
The air conditioning unit in our room made a lot of noise at times, but it was nothing that ear plugs didn't fix.

This place is a gem. I expected the charm of a colonial-era building, but the reality exceeded my expectations. The whole stay was marked by attention to details. The welcome was relaxed and we had a personal tour of the facilities (and all the staff during our visit was friendly and helpful). The entire house was decorated in subdued elegance, as was our room. We loved the little amenities (afternoon snacks) and the breakfast (no bacon or pancakes, but most everything else). Also, we were very happy that an excellent restaurant (Soufiane's) is in the building. Needless to say, the location in the heart of historic Philadelphia, which is a very walkable city anyway, is an added bonus. There is no more charming hotel in Philadelphia.
The only possible improvement for us senior citizens would be an elevator, but in a house nearly 250 years old, we certainly did not expect one. In any case, the staff very kindly carried our bags to our room.
