The location and the view from the restaurant
I didn’t like how the tub was peeling away. It looked like it was delaminating and flaking off. Also it had a black hair in it. It made me wonder if our room was cleaned well.

Spectacular and serene location in a hillside above Soquel. Nice pool and spa facilities; access to full gym, two pools, sauna & steam room. The hillside view rooms have balconies with lovely prospects into surrounding eucalyptus groves. Food at the hotel restaurant is competitively priced and delicious.
The management, communications, staff attitude and service leave a lot to be desired particularly for a resort hotel at this price point. Our waitress at the View (restaurant) was passive aggressive and slow. For example, when I asked for more water she said she would bring it "next time she passed by" -- took forever during which time I saw her running food to another section while two bussers were standing and chatting. After we asked for our bill she never came & we finally had to ask the manager. Also, one morning I tried to order a cappuccino to go. The host refused to serve me ("not now") and directed me to the free coffee, which gave me acid stomach. (This was atb8 am and the restaurant was slow). Another example: the mechanical curtain in our room was stuck closed making the room dark and hiding the view for which we were paying. It took forever to get an answer (phone goes to a bot and tge front desk staff only texts). Didn't get fixed until the next day. Really dreadful communications and service that really marred what is otherwise a lovely facility.
