Attractive hotel in a convenient location. Rooms are nicely styled and the staff were warm and welcoming. The grounds are pleasant and there’s a spa (although I did not use it). Cracking spot for a traditional cream tea.
It’s a case of meeting expectations, and for the price I found the hotel did not quite live up to mine. The room we had, had noisy plumbing / pipes and the pre-ordered newspaper never materialised due to a “miss-hap.” None of this is major but took a little shine away from the overall experience.

Upgraded to larger room. I only had toast and tea and a pain au chocolat for breakfast but it was very nice. Close to where I needed to be for work so excellent location for me. Also enjoyed a walk in the gardens which was very quiet and pleasant.

Breakfast was okay apart from eggs not cooked properly. Poached eggs were hard. The silver teapot tea were is okay apart from they are old and not pouring properly.
There is a set menu for an evening meal which does not change having been there for three days. One would be totally bored with the choice of food at an expensive price. It meant we had to travel out of the hotel to have a change of menu.
