Charming Fuencarral Street - Attic for 4 people in the best area of Madrid: THE APARTMENT The Charming Fuencarral Street is a nice attic apartment in the best area of Madrid, Calle Fuencarral. A pedestrian street full of shops and restaurants 2 minutes from the famous Gran Vía street. This apartment is very bright and has two levels: On the top floor we find a bedroom open to the living room with a double bed. On the ground floor there is a living room with flat screen TV, dining area and a sofa bed plus an additional living room where we find a second sofa bed. The apartment has a private bathroom with shower and fully equipped kitchen with all the essential cooking utensils: ceramic hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine, pots, pans, plates and glasses ... Among the amenities of the apartment we also find: Free Wifi, air conditioning and heating, bed linen and towels, washing machine, hair dryer and free toiletries. The building where this fantastic apartment is located has an elevator. AREA It’s the best shopping street in Madrid. Fuencarral, in the Malasaña neighbourhood, it has plenty of boutiques and shops along the street. International and local brands, from vintage to high-class cosmetic stores. It gets very crowded on the weekends, but the street is a pedestrian walkway, which makes it easier for tourists, locals and shoppers to get around. HOW TO MOVE You are in the center of Madrid and you can walk to all the attractions, but if you still need to take the metro the stations closest to the apartment are: - METRO GRAN VÍA (lines 1 and 5): 3 minutes walking. - METRO TRIBUNAL (lines 1 and 10): 2 minutes walking. THE FINE PRINT -There are baby cots available to rent for 30€ / stay. Please request the baby cot to the host prior to your arrival. -Every guest must present a valid ID/Passport upon check-in. -Events and/or parties are not allowed. -For reservation of 28 nights or more, electricity and gas bills will be included up to 50€. The tenant will have to pay for any extra.

Good apartment made for short people, very uncomfortable for normal people. Key to access front door does not work. They charge 25 euros/day for cleaning that never happens, and you find out about that charge when you dig into details of charges. NOT A GOOD VALUE. Had I known about the hidden cleaning charges, I would have gone somewhere else.

Very poor. The apartment is clean and well located, some effort was made toward cheerful style, most appliances worked and the host replied to emails quickly. However, it did not work at all for our family of 4 for the following reasons. Main issue: the bed up the stairs is ok for 2 adults but the sofa bed on the main floor measures 1.69 m by 1.1m - workable for 2 young kids at best. The other sofa bed in the small separate room is broken and not usable as a bed. The host told us that this is intended as a sofa only. Issue 2: the apartment has 2 windows high up on 2 opposite walls, out of reach, without curtains. Sun comes in from one side or the other all day, heating up the apartment. These 2 windows cannot be opened early am for ventilation - the one window at the end of the narrow kitchen and the two small room-mounted windows do not suffice. Too much light, too much heat, not enough ventilation. Issue 3: the apartment has 2 showers but one is a very small prefab unit located in the main room, between the fridge and table. Not usable unless people are very intimate. AC did not work on arrival - in July. Host could not fix until next day. By that time we had decided to leave. I requested a refund. The host was not obliged to do this and indeed did not refund - instead they rented the unit to someone else, earning twice on a property with malfunctioning AC and not as described. Very poor service. We happily rented somewhere else. You can do much better than this.

The Charming Concept staff were very helpful with advice and adjustments due to some problems I had (phone was stolen before I even left the US!). The location of the flat was fantastic for my needs and wants.

It is a wonderful place to be and the owner/property manager very good at responding to questions. It might be tricky for someone very tall as it is an attic build and many low ceiling spots. If you have a larger group the sofa beds would be tough for 2. One of the sofa beds needs a support mending. It was a very good place from which to experience Madrid. I would stay again.

The apartment is in a great location - close to lots of shopping, excellent restaurants, street life, the metro, and walking distance to major sights. One small challenge was the low sloping ceiling in the bathroom, but the extra shower stall in the outer area was helpful. Host was very responsive, and the apartment was well-maintained.
