Run by a one man whirlwind, great place to stay, fantastic location in the middle of nowhere. Literally. Huge place, with loads of character and steeped in history. A fantastic host, with many hats, reception, bar man, food server, the lot, and a great sense of humour. Food was excellent, rooms slightly dated, but nevertheless clean, tidy and well appointed. Fantastic grounds to explore and red squirrels too. Which the hotel helps to support. Footnote, approach from the A6 near the farm, far better road. Overall we had an excellent stay, and will be back.

Just a nice hotel. Creaky floors , water running past, in the middle of nowhere. Peace.
