The staff were great, no issues at all with them, either on Reception or in the dining room/breakfast room. The breakfast was OK but nothing special and dinner the same. It's difficult for us because we've been visiting this hotel over a number of years and remember the 'good old days' ! The price of the room was very reasonable at £68, it used to cost more than that. This place is very convenient for us as we have family nearby so I'm sure we'll continue to visit.
The main concern we should tell you is that all around the bar area as you enter from the hotel reception, there is a smell of sewage, very unpleasant. It isn't noticeable in the bedroom but quite strong in the area I've mentioned. The rooms, although they've been re-decorated, really need a major upgrade. (I do understand that would change the charging). A coffee machine in the room would be nice too!
