Staff where very welcoming, breakfast and diner were nice, location for us was great, room had just had a revamp so all clean and tidy, bed was comfortable
Staff were very slow on all accounts from showing you to your room to serving you at breakfast and diner not a lot of knowledge about the food at dinner, breakfast was the same and no mention of the different coffees available,
albeit the room had been refurbished it wasn't quite finished with various items still requiring attention ie bathroom not fitted or correct size toilet seat loose, paint missing from under vanity and pop up wastes chrome not black slight attention to detail missing . The staff were all very young and from what we experienced very lacking in restaurant service ie forgetting we had ordered toast, forgetting to bring coffee, not advising about the buffet and to help yourself, dead flowers on every table and water that looked like it had been there for a week, all very apologetic but I think just a lack of training and supervision . We were still expecting the spar to be open as it was still advertised when we booked but this had been closed months earlier prior to our booking which was very disappointing and the price should reflect this but we didn't think it did

Newly renovated room, very comfortable bed and bathroom.
The hotel sent me email after I checked out, I replied and they never come back to me about my question.

Rooms in the castle were great. Location great.
Lodge too far away to feel as though you were part of the castle. It is a house with rooms not a lodge.
No Spa. Our stay was based on this as a recommendation we had had.
