The room and furnishing were very elegant. It was a little unusual to not have an outlook at all however the communal space at the pool was lovely and enjoyable.
The staff were fantastic and special mention goes to Joyce who was a joy to deal with and Jenny who was delightful. Both women were helpful, delightful and graceful.
There was nothing we didnt like. Our arrival was a little confused as the rideshare driver took us to the address but the reception was on the other side of the building so perhaps the signage could be improved to help others.

This was a beautiful oasis in a slightly crazy town that is George Town. The hotel is beautifully restored and very comfortable and clean. The staff are polite and very helpful. It is also located away from touristy part of the old town which is good.

😞 Disappointed Stay at Seven Terraces, Penang 😞
I rarely write negative reviews, but this time I truly felt disappointed by the service at what’s supposed to be a charming heritage hotel.
Yes — the place is beautiful. The architecture is elegant and full of history. The environment is absolutely clean and peaceful. Unfortunately, the service is completely ruined what could have been a wonderful experience.
We stayed three nights under two bookings on Booking.com. Before arrival, we had already requested airport transfer and the same room for the entire stay. Yet upon check-in, a staff named Jocelyn told us we had to change rooms on the third night because “our room was booked long ago by someone else.” We asked politely if she could at least help move our luggage to the next room — she hesitated for a long time and only reluctantly agreed, as if doing us a huge favour.
Then came the worst part. The night before our flight, I confirmed our airport transfer with the night-shift foreign staff, only to be told — very rudely — that there was no record of any booking. He even said it wasn’t their problem because “you booked through Booking.com.” Only after I showed him the official confirmation messages from Seven Terraces did he finally agree to re-book it.
If I hadn’t double-checked, we might have missed our flight because of their carelessness and lack of professionalism. For a hotel of this reputation and price, this level of service is simply unacceptable.
Regardless whether we book your hotel via third party platform, what we expect is your hotel’s professional service and hospitality. We expect your hotel should have filtered and checked all customers requirements when accepting the booking.
The only bright spot was Nurul — a lovely, friendly, professional staff who was only one staff willing to help us solve the issues we faced. She’s the only reason I’d even consider returning.
