East Indies Mansion is one of those rare places where you really feel that every detail matters. Perfectly located in the heart of Georgetown, just steps from Armenian Street, Chulia Street, and plenty of great restaurants and attractions. The mansion itself is a beautifully restored historic Chinese house. Each room is unique, decorated with elegant antique furniture, and kept immaculately clean. The linens and towels smell wonderfully fresh, and even the toiletries like soap, shampoo, and conditioner are of excellent quality. But above all, The staff truly made the stay exceptional. Everyone was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. During our stay, there was a small incident where a personal item of great importance to us was accidentally thrown away. The team went above and beyond to make it right and managed to find a replacement for us. That level of care and genuine kindness is something you’ll never forget. If we return to Penang, East Indies Mansion will absolutely be our first choice.

It was absolutely beautiful. It was spotless. We had Cinnamon 1 and 2. They were so unique, there was a lounge upstairs between the 2 units- which we called the “museum” with really cool items from history. Lovely bedtime treats each night, and local snacks that were super tasty and thoughtful.
Rose tea, kopi o and 3 in 1 was a welcome selection for us… not to mention the body soap, shampoo and conditioner that had such a gorgeous smell.
The staff couldn’t be more helpful and helped recommend our favourite meal on Kimberly Road, checked us out super early with a smile and such pleasantness.
Spaces to chill out and relax were instagramable, and so quaint.
The beds were super comfortable and the bed sheets felt incredibly luxurious.
The price was extremely reasonable and I really felt like it was such fantastic value for money we were really sad to leave.
Absolutely nothing. We were sad that that we didn’t stay for longer.

Internet signal was so weak we couldn’t really connect. Really bad. I complained from day one and nothing was done that fixed the problem.
