we loved our stay here. our room was huge and comfy. breakfast on the terrace was lovely. there were a few sunbeds down by the pool downstairs and up on the roof. we also loved cocktails on the roof. located perfectly in the Center of town we felt safe walking everywhere.

It’s a great location and could be a delightful hotel with some modifications to amenities, cleanliness and hospitality. The night shift staff, Jason, was delightful.
The hotel lacks the amenities and cleanliness of other caliber stays for this cost. The day reception, Charles, was not hospitable or kind. The breakfast was bland and boring. Value for money spent was not there. Most significantly improvements in the area of amenities and cleanliness are needed for this level of stay. Definitely not 5 star accommodations as listed.

Aesthetically stunning, great sound barrier from the outside. Perfect location. AC works well.

Struttura piccola e molto esclusiva. Pochissime camere, arredi stupendi e accoglienti. Sembra di soggiornare in una casa.
Dovrebbero variare un po’ di più il menu della colazione.

Location
Hasn’t seen an investment in years. Pool lights didn’t work for instance. Waaaaaay too expensive for what it is.

The charming, storied colonial boutique hotel was beautifully appointed with seven rooms and multiple common spaces. Centrally located right across the street from the stunning Catedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandria, everything is in walking distance. A generous breakfast was served daily, with a variety of local fruits, eggs to your specifications, a sausage, and a starch (either yucca, plantains, etc.). There was a choice of a local fruit juice or orange juice as well as coffee/tea. I really loved the morning breakfast staff as they were so kind and accommodating. The second floor dining/ lounge room is gorgeously decorated, and there is a swimming pool on both the ground floor as well as on the roof. The air conditioner worked really, really well.
Our check-in was a bit chaotic as we arrived early, with the butler on duty telling us it would be another 30 minutes until our room was ready, but in reality it turned out to be an additional 90 minutes. Also, our room was heavily scented by a luxury brand reed diffuser which smelled strongly of out of the box hair dye (L’Oréal Preference).

The shared facilities are incredibly nice, nice colonial style, the internal and rooftop pools, the breakfast area. We wish we could have spent more time in the hotel.
The staff at the reception was very nice, did their best to accommodate our requests and gave pod recommendations.
The location is very central.
The kitchen staff was very flexible with the breakfast menu so we could choose different options from the standard one. They also helped me organize a special birthday breakfast for my boyfriend which was lovely.
We had a room with two rather small beds which was not ideal for a couple. The suites are wonderful but a bit overpriced. We could hear noise in the morning as we were on the ground floor next to the pool.
Prices - both rooms and drinks - are quite high but it seems to be the same everywhere in Cartagena.

It was stunning and stylish and is so central

Breakfast is phenomenal, I will really miss this! At first, I didn't love that my room has no windows to the outside… But then you realize how noisy the streets are at night and you really appreciate that!
This place is beautiful and the staff is very accommodating.

location, ambiance, and staff were amazing
The food was just okay. but that could be due to us being picky eaters

The location was prime. Right smack in the middle or Old Town, you could throw a rock out of your window and hit a bar or restaurant and loads of shopping outlets. It was always bustling at all hours of the day. The hotel itself is beautiful!!! Loved the pool. The staff were helpful especially Carlos ,Jefferson and Milton. Felt like I was being catered to even though sometimes there was a language barrier. Breakfast was also delicious. Room service was great and hotel decor was super chic. Hotel felt safe and protected.
The shower situation was rough. The water temp was never just right and the water pressure was fairly nonexistent. I would wait for upwards of 10 minutes for water to get warm and it didn't. When I asked about it, I was told it would be fixed. When I got in the shower, the water was piping hot with no option to lower the temp. Not sure if it was just my room or my stay but this really was a down side for me. I loved this hotel and only wanted to sing its praises but alas, this was my largest issue. Additional food for thought....if you are in the forward facing room on the second floor (201) bring earplugs. The noise from the street is fairly nonstop so you will definitely need them. Lastly, breakfast got a little mundane, considering the location and diversity of cultures, I expected a more diverse breakfast offering. Seemed like I ate a different variation of the same thing each morning.

Included breakfast was great, the wifi was stable and fast, the pool area / views were very calming and romantic, and its a great location with terrific services from the staff. Jefferson was the best at attending to all of our needs, making sure we had the special romantic welcome package, and making sure our stay was perfect, and that even our next stay went smoothly.
There's not many outlets in the room, we had to unplug some things to find ways to charge our devices, and the night shift at the hotel often had us waiting outside for several minutes when we arrived back at a later hour.

the staff make this place feel
like home . Juan Pablo is a gem and will ensure you are well taken care of . Guillermo, Ivan and Baker all
excellent staff who make this place feel
like a five star hotel . Juan ensured all our needs were met, made reservations for meals and tours and even escorted us to some of the best restaurants. location is central but the staff are the true stars of Casa de Alba . even Francisco who picked us up and took us back
to the hotel, even though he spoke very little
English was most welcoming .

stunning property! staff was super kind and helpful
overall great property, but some of the service could use some work, such as better breakfast options, being notified of the times when the front door would be locked, replacing towels in bathroom, more clarity about charges (booking.com states it would be charged before the stay but the hotel didn’t charge In advance causing confusion at check in). for what’s advertised as a luxury property, these are all things that I wouldn’t expect

Staff was very helpful. This was our first stop in Colombia. We needed help getting oriented. They went above and beyond, though I would recommend if you plan on booking boat tours, do you research and book from home, most seem to “party” excursions to over used sites, and loud music and forced experiences. If you can stay here, you likely have the funds to charter a private tour, which we tried to do, but still ended up on a party boat.
More variety with breakfast

Hotel was beautiful and the staff was amazing...thank you Jefferson and Wilton for making this an amazing experience.

Everything! Our favorite parts were the workers and bathtub. All employees from front desk to breakfast servers were so hospitable. Specifically, Jefferson - the front desk worker - was so diligent and pro-active. He helped make reservations to all of our plans, he called taxi's for us, he checked in on us to make sure we felt safe and comfortable. He even walked us to our first restaurant and explained a bit of Cartagena! Jefferson is amazing as well as the other employees. There were a few employees that took the time to walk us to a restaurant or bar when we didn't know the way. So sweet!
Nothing!

The hotel is amazing and we fell in love with it as soon as we arrived and the huge door opened. All the staff are beyond great, everyone stands out well. They are very helpful and attentive. They will try their hardest to accommodate every request. I also was very interested in the history of the hotel. This is a place that feels like home and is in the centre of the old town. The pool is heavenly.

The hotel was in a perfect location, staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, very welcoming to our children, the room was perfect, the beds were comfortable and the AC worked fantastic.
Would have liked to have a food option in addition to breakfast but other than that it’s perfect!!

Generically speaking I liked everything about the property. It's a colonial style property that is very well preserved and decorated. All the plants and the pool with the running water in the middle of property adds something special to the atmosphere, a kind of magic, besides it is very quiet inside.
The breakfast has very good quality and sized just right (from my perspective). It is not a self service experience if that's what you're after!
The staff is great, very kind and attentive and always available to try to make your experience the best it can be. I can't say thank you enough to everybody from Casa de Alba.
Last but not the least, the location is superb ... it is inside the old city walls and 2/3 minutes away from the Clock Tower on foot. Amazing experience.
I don't really have anything that I didn't like. The entire experience was great as mentioned so, congratulations to everyone at the property.

Everything. The hotel is very beautiful and well decorated. It is kept to a very high standard and is in a perfect location for exploring the old town. The best part however was the staff. Jhonne particularly was extremely helpful in making our stay as comfortable and easy as possible including helping us to rent a car with only a day's notice. Would fully recommend this hotel

Casa de Alba was simply breathtaking. The staff went out of there way every day to make sure our every need was taken care of. We were greeted each morning by Antonio with his beautiful smile. He always made sure we had everything we needed for the day and would arrange anything needed from restaurants to his best jeweler. He even escorted us to restaurants to make sure everything was perfect. But let me not forget the rest of the staff who were all just as wonderful.
There is really nothing that could be better. It was a bit tough to find the hotel upon arrival. Many streets were blocked off and the hotel, I believe, is really locally know as Casa Drake. But who doesn't love a little adventure.

there were many mosquitoes in our bedroom.

Everything was AMAZING. Breakfast- amazing. Staff- amazing. Pool(s)- amazing. Rooms- amazing. Amenities- Amazing. Aesthetics- amazing. Welcome drinks- amazing. We met one of the directors there from Europe, and just talking to him about the hotel was amazing! We got a free upgrade on our room on our second night, but honestly we were already so happy with the first room we were put in. Everything was a 10/10; however, I'd like to emphasize how uniquely beautiful this boutique hotel is. It has so much character. It was the highlight of my honeymoon and we stayed in 5 different hotels in Cartagena during our several weeks trip there. We didn't come to Colombia from the US to stay in a generic Hilton- like hotel.
The location was hard to find if you are not taking a taxi to get to the hotel. EX: we walked from the city centre and we couldn't find the hotel sign. I guess that means it is a hidden GEM.

Antonio at the front desk adds to the luxury of the hotel! He is a gift to that place. My room was exquisite, the property itself is stunning. The pictures you see on review sites do it absolutely no justice.
It was a flawless experience and I would not change a thing.

This property is absolutely beautiful. it is a boutique hotel that offers privacy and an amazing location at the same time. We where greeted by Antonio,
the hotels concierge who took care of every detail in our stay, from arranging the airport ride when we arrived, to making reservations in yours and restaurants in amazing places. The hotel’s staff, in general, made us feel truly at home.
