The location was the best part followed by the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. Our price for 4 adults, 2 rooms was considerably less than the budget hotels.

The location, staff, room views and evening meal very good
I didn’t enjoy my breakfast - scrambled eggs were dry the potato scone was overcooked and the sausages did not have a nice taste they tasted very basic, however my husband enjoyed his vegetarian breakfast

Location was good and food was excellent. Staff were very welcoming.
We had a room in the Annex. The road noise kept us awake and woke us up. Windows in there are not effective at blocking out the sound of the passing traffic (which is very loud). If warm, as it was, you would also need the windows open and so the problem for the hotel to rectify is significant (air con and triple glazing?). A shame as the room was good but taking the lack of sleep into account it was bad value for money at £350 per night approx.
Bunk bed in children’s room could also have been less squeaky/ a more solid design would be sensible.
We liked the place but just did not sleep well due to the road noise which massively tainted our trip to the Clansman.
