We enjoyed our two night stay at the Ad Astra. The neighborhood is great - away from the tourist hordes, yet walkable to all the sites. The staff is friendly and helpful, and breakfast on the terrace overlooking the gardens was lovely. The hotel is quiet and peaceful. Our room was spacious, clean and well-equipped.
Really our only complaint about the room was the air conditioning. The weather was hot (35c during the day) and the air conditioning was not adequate for the room. Even with maximum cooling turned on all day and night, the room was still 25C when we went to bed - too warm for a good night’s sleep. One other small thing: though the hotel looks out on the stunning Torrigiani Gardens, the gardens are private and access is strictly prohibited.

This is one of the nicest properties I’ve ever stayed in. Like being in your best friend’s cool house. Everything is well considered. The bedroom we were in with its own terrace was hands down one of the biggest and best rooms we have ever stayed in and I’ve visited many hotels over the years. Wonderful breakfast on the terrace overlooking the garden. The location is fantastic. In a quiet street a short walk to cool bars and restaurants and around 15 minutes to Uffizi etc but honestly? We loved this area so much we weren’t too bothered about going back over the river to the centre of Florence. Friendly staff will help you with restaurant recommendations etc should you need it.
