The balcony
Disappointing stay – certainly not a 4-star experience
Overall, this hotel fell well short of its advertised 4-star rating and, in our opinion, was much closer to a 2-star experience.
The spa element of the hotel’s name is particularly misleading. The facilities are very basic, and closing at 6pm is far too early, especially when guests would naturally expect to use them towards the end of the day.
Breakfast was another disappointment. The choice was basic, with very little fresh fruit and a heavy reliance on processed options. It also appeared that food was being recycled from one day to the next.
The front-of-house staff were a mixed bunch, with some coming across as particularly inflexible and unwilling to accommodate guests. We checked out on the hotel’s final day of the season, and standards seemed to deteriorate noticeably as the week progressed, ultimately to the detriment of paying guests.
Overall, this felt more like a basic package-holiday hotel than a comfortable 4-star establishment. The facilities, food and service were all below expectations, with little sense that guest experience was the priority.
The hotel’s location and the excellent weather are clearly major attractions, and perhaps this allows it to get away with a standard of accommodation, facilities and service that would otherwise be difficult to justify. However, a good location and sunshine should not be a substitute for delivering the 4-star experience the hotel claims to offer.
We certainly won’t be returning and would recommend looking elsewhere if you’re expecting a comfortable, well-maintained hotel with good facilities, food and service.
