The food at the restaurant was very good
Floor thick tweed carpets need to be replaced by parquet flooring due to the fact that hotel is pet friendly flooring needs to be washed regularly to remove bad odours of wet carpets etc etc. As much as the hotel is a historical one, one needs to move with time and upgrade the premises to keep up with the competition in this day and age. Thankfully we were only there for one night as alothough we had a big a spacious ine by today's standards, the view was awful looking onto a back yard where linen disposal/delivery was carried out constantly until 7am -11pm. Our Room was no 216 which is on the first floor so the loud noise of trolley baskets was quite loud. We had a double bed made up from 2 singles which was quite big but mattresses caved in and needed replacing.
