About this house rental
Nestled in Door County, this lovely house for $512 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Walk 4 miles of empty beach in either direction or bike down a wooded road laced with million dollar homes. Our property is located in the most rural and secluded section of the most desirable Midwestern destination. Bikes and beach toys are provided with this totally equipped home which was built for large group rentals. Children love to dig a waterhole in the beach, play with the odd homemade wooden toys or watch movies until they fall asleep in their rooms. Adults enjoy sharing breakfast for two on the roof porch or beach swing. The night sky is lit with stars while your family roasts marshmallows over a beach fire. The beach house sits on top of a dune surrounded with pine trees. Large windows make viewing the lake a treat from each common area. Seamlessly, the stone design blends into the landscape making your transformation from the elegant inside into the dune environment an unforgettable experience. 4 kings, 3 queens, l small daybed, 2 full futons, cots and inflatables

The house was in a great location within 7 miles of Sturgeon Bay to pick up groceries or go to lunch or dinner. The house has a beautiful view of Lake Michigan and has a long stretch of sandy beach to take walks. The kitchen was well supplied with pots and pans to cook dinners for 12 people. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the house.

This is an older property with lots of character that perfectly suited us. The sand beach is gorgeous and perfect for walking. The house is spacious and private. It was cool, but our dog loved the swimming in Lake Michigan. The neighborhood is quiet and our old biking legs appreciated the flatter roads in the area. It is beautiful in Door County and this area along Glidden is one of the most beautiful. Mary and Ray Spangler are great hosts who respond immediately if there is a question or problem. For us this is a five star property and we are already looking forward to coming back here next July.

Stayed with the family and some friends and their kids in Mary's Beach House for five nights. Ray and Mary were great with the check in, said we could come a little earlier as the cabin was available, even replaced a gas grill that was broken the next day. We got there late Sunday afternoon and immediately hit the beach, which is really the most outstanding feature of the property. We could see the kids playing in the water from the deck and the path is short, maybe 30 feet or so before you hit the sand. Pretty much spent all week on that amazing beach. Sand everywhere, even with the kids rinsing off their feet with the hose next to the house. Hard to keep the sand out, but we tried. There's washer and dryer in the cabin, so we did a lot of laundry. Had to buy beach towels, as there were none. The cabin itself has lots of bedrooms, with a lofted room that has a 360-degree view that is pretty amazing along with a little deck area. Though this space could be a great master suite, it was set up more for kids. Overall, the cabin is feeling it's age and there are a few areas that are perpetually damp and dank, which is just how it is when you have a place right on the beach. Makes it smell like wet cedar, just like my grandparent's cabin. There are lot of dusty cabin-y knick-knacks around (not like the "beach swag" you get from Amazon) and plenty of post-its that let you know what you can and can't do in the house--just like grandma and grandpas.

We checked with the owner and was told we could check in at 12:00, but when we arrived the house was still being cleaned - the owner didn't tell the cleaning person. we waited on the deck and beach while the cleaning was finished. The house had lots of bedrooms and the spaces were large. It was great that we could walk out the back door and be at the beach. There was a grill with a propane tank, but when attempting to use found the ignitor did not work and the grease trap was broken into 3 pieces. there was also a charcoal grill which we sued in stead. I messaged the owner and he was prompt and addressing the issues - brought towels and look at grill and said not to use. As the week progressed we discovered the ice maker was not producing ice and the upstairs toilet was problematic with continual running.
I would rent again, but when I called with my dates for next year the house had been rented, but have blocked in dates for 2025. this is a great place for families with young childrent to gather and enjoy the beach.

The house is lovely and was enough room for my family of ten to spread out when we needed, but come together when we wanted to. The beach is perfect-quiet and hardly saw anyone else. The water was lovely (a bit chilly in June). Watch out for mosquitoes-would advise bringing lots of spray in mid-June.

The location of this property can't be beat. Right on a beautiful beach - sunrise/sunset are wonderful. We went over Memorial Day and was amazing, the height of summer would be even better. Bedrooms are close quarters but as a group of 12, we were fine, everyone had a bed and it was a blast. Hosts were great.

This was our second time staying at this great beach house. The place is huge, with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The upper floor bedroom is like sleeping in a giant treehouse! There is a nice wide beach and you can walk a long way in either direction. The decor is very "Door County" and the hosts are really responsive. We'll be back!

The Lake is our happy place, no matter the season. This is a well-cared-for home. So much is here to make it a home from the stocked kitchen to the cozy bedrooms to the full washer/dryer to the extra soaps in the bathrooms. We loved watching the sunrise and sunset from the indoor patio, the huge windows in the main living room, and the panoramic views from the 2nd floor. We got some wonderful family time with our family of 4 and my parents (grandparent time!) Could’ve even had a friend or two join us! Two great tables to play card/board games and build puzzles. WiFi is also good here and there are card/board games and movies to choose. Mary is very responsive and a great host. We’re seeing about heading back to this home soon! Thank you for this time together in a wonderful place.

The home is spacious, fully furnished, 'lived-in' so you can relax with kids and dogs around, and of course situated right on the beach. The furnishings come with stories/history and the architecture is interesting; both add to the character of this place. Soak up the sun for a while, then take a meal break just steps away, then head out again for some more. The owners were friendly and helped us with recommendations for local restaurants. Great place for a gathering of an extended family.

We had plenty of privacy.

House on the beach...perfect location. Although the beach was smelly due to dead fish all over the sand. Needed to rake the dead fish everyday and buried them.
The house was big and accommodated the whole family of 16. Although the first floor was outdated and knickknacks were allover the place just collecting dusts. The house needed a real cleaning. Thanks.

We all loved our stay at Mary's Beach House. We had 3 families with everyone from the 1 year old to the grandparents to the dog and everyone was happy and comfortable and wants to return next year. Relaxed beach house vibes with a lovely view, fireplace, and easy walk down to the beach from the porch.

The house has amazing views of the lake, and is well designed to take advantage of them. In general the house is comfortable, well situated, and we had a nice stay. The owners seem to be good people who are trying to provide a nice place to stay.
There was a problem with the heating when we first arrived, but the owners were responsive and had the problem fixed quite quickly.
On the downside, the check-in process was very frustrating as we had to make up the beds ourselves, and the wrong sheets had been set in the rooms (queen sheets for king sized beds) so that we had to do a lot of hunting for sheets that fit when we were very tired from the journey. There also wasn’t any hand soap in the bathrooms, so we had to run to the supermarket right away to get some. The check-out process was similarly frustrating, because there was an entire page of instructions about stripping beds, washing dishes (the dishwasher to be washed and cleared, and the dishwasher takes 2 1/2 hours to run, so we had to do the breakfast dishes by hand), cleaning out the fireplace, setting the thermostat, switching off the water. Considering what we paid for a week’s rental, I really do think the owners could afford a reasonable cleaning service to handle the beds and things. Houses I’ve rented before in Door county had the beds made and didn’t expect me to scrub the place down when I was leaving.

This was our second year and was once again great. The house was perfect for our needs. The location was beautiful and we spent many hours on the deck enjoying Lake Michigan. This is a perfect place for a large group which also allows pets. My dogs loved the beach which is very close to the house. Hope to come here next year.
