About this house rental
Located in Pacific Grove, this lovely house for $248 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Sanctuary Vacation Rentals is proud to present "Lighthouse Sanctuary"! This home sleeps up to 10 guests. **Available Long Term of 6 months or more at a discounted rate! Class and comfort combine in this handsome 4 bedroom, 3 bath 2,800 square foot Spanish Revival style house, located a short 8-minute walk from downtown Pacific Grove. This is a perfect spot for a family reunion or for several couples vacationing together. Situated on a quarter acre and set back from the street, it has a large, enclosed dog and child-friendly backyard and parking for several cars. The elegant living room, decorated in rich earthen tones, features hardwood floors and comfortable furnishings. A wall of windows line one end of the living room and provide access to a small balcony overlooking the back yard. (The fireplace in the room is decorative in nature only and is not for burning.) A fully equipped kitchen with white cabinetry includes a cheery breakfast nook with table that can seat four. Dinnerware and glassware allow entertaining in grand style in the handsome dining room, with its semi-circle of French windows and wood table that seats up to ten. Downstairs in the main house is a bright, cozy family room with another bank of French windows overlooking the backyard with wall-to-wall carpeting, a sectional sofa, 42-inch HDTV, and a table for playing games and cards. Bedrooms and Bathrooms The upper / main level bedrooms have hardwood flooring. Bedroom #1 has a king bed, luxury linens and French windows on two sides that welcome plenty of light. Bedroom #2 on has a queen bed and luxury linens. Bedrooms on this level share a full hall bath with a shower over tub combination. On the lower level, Bedroom #3 is a large suite with a king bed and 2 twin beds. The downstairs bathroom has two standing showers, three pedestal sinks and a separate water closet. Bedroom #4 is a cozy studio guest suite with a small kitchen and queen bed. It is accessed through the back yard with a separate entrance, is available for adults only. (Adults with baby OK). The studio has its own bathroom with a shower. Well-behaved dogs are welcome with pre-approval, an additional pet fee and a signed pet addendum. This home is a monthly rental and we request that all nights of your stay are within the same calendar month. Some exceptions may be possible, with the approval of our team and the homeowner. This vacation home is professionally managed by Sanctuary Vacation Rentals. With over 15 years of property management experience, Sanctuary strives to provide environments that nurture and inspire with all the comforts of home. This house has a great layout, particularly if you are hosting family and friends - two floors, downstairs has both a huge bedroom/sitting area AND a locked off casita. The staff was very responsive. The linens were lovely.The only downside is that the back yard needs work - a good bit of extraneous, unnecessary 'stuff' scattered around and the lawn was not in good shape. Great ten minute walk down Lighthouse to excellent local restaurants.

Six adult women sharing house for 4 days to celebrate mutual birthdays.We requested only "real" beds, no futons and were granted our request. Reserved extra studio room for someone that slept quite late for her privacy. Unfortunatly, the studio room had infestation of a biting insect that caused major body itching to one person while sleeping. Agency's quick response was appreciated and quickly resolved. Otherwise, house was spacious, well equipped, and clean.

Lighthouse Sanctuary was a perfect fit for our families needs. The property is in a great location a few blocks from the beach, golf course and downtown - all easy walks. The extra apartment, downstairs living area and backyard were perfect as our kids visited and had their own domain. The staff was attentive to our needs and everything went well.

The house is a perfect dog friendly house with a huge backyard to romp in...We stayed here once before many years ago. The house needs to be deep cleaned...all the couch covers need to be washed up and down stairs as they were icky. All the windows need to be washed as well. The shower curtains were moldy and had to have them replaced. Great customer service on your end. We had a nice stay but the place really needs to be looked over in detail. Thank you.

Great place, location and very spacious!
The house was as advertised. It was clean and very spacious and plenty of room even for 11 adults (and 3 dogs!).
Everything was great except, we noticed a few of the bed sheets seemed to be stained/dirty. Also, a few of the doors were tricky to use/worn. Aside from these, it was an awesome experience and the location was one of the best if you stay at the Monterey/Carmel area.
This being said, our party would stay here again in the future if we go back to Monterey/Carmel!

Amazing Place to Stay
This house is beautiful inside and out. The location is perfect. Walking distance to Pacific Grove town with many restaurants and shops. Also walking distance to Lover's Beach and Butterfly Sanctuary. Around the corner from Pacific Grove Golf Links. The house is well stocked with kitchen items. The interior of the home is very charming. We highly recommend.

Perfect for families!
The home is well maintained with a lot of charm! Great location with plenty of parking available and it's a short walk to town. My extended family had a wonderful time hanging out in this comfortable home and appreciated all the extra amenities provided by management. The extra touches such as having the lights on since we arrived after dark, soothing music playing, bathrobes, extra throws on the beds and couches for warmth, wine, cheese, crackers, popcorn, cookies, coffee, teas, etc. made us feel very welcome!

The property was exactly as promised.... The layout offered much room for privacy when needed and plenty of room to gather as a group. The yard was nicely sized and we enjoyed an evening in it. Was very pleased with the stay.

Comfortable home, good vibe
We rented this property with a couple of other couples and while the house has a bit of an odd layout, it was very comfortable and relaxing. It works for three couples as it has a separate in law unit. And would be good for a family that had a bunch of kids as the downstairs is set up with a bathroom with 3 sinks and 2 showers in the 2nd bathroom. Nicely appointed and well-prepared for our arrival.

Sadly disappointed
We used this house for a family reunion with relatives from England. This is the 5th VRBO house we've rented in Pacific Grove as PG is our favorite vacation spot. We were always delighted with the beauty and condition of our rentals and I always gave good reviews. For the first time we were very surprised at how used and shabby the furniture, carpeting and drapes were. We were asked to report any stains - I didn't know where to begin.
But the worst was yet to come. There is a sign in one bathroom claiming repairs to that toilet are $1030 and to never flush anything other than TP down. Some younger family members were afraid of using the toilets. Plumbing issues were also described in the welcome book at the house. It mentioned that at times the septic pump can stop working. When this happens, all bathrooms in the downstairs are clogged and unusable. The worst part is that the vents in the house push the sewage smell through the entire house! We found this condition after a day's excursion and called the management company. They apologized, but could not get a plumber until the next morning. We tried covering the vents with pillows etc. yet several members of my family were unable to sleep due to the noxious fumes. When the plumber finally came 18 hours later, he told me that he had previously informed the owner that the downstairs toilet needed replacing. Even after the plumber left, the sewage smell lingered in the house. No one from the management company ever checked back with us.
We left a day early and I called the management company to complain. They agreed to refund us for one night's stay.
I am sad to write this review, but feel I owe it to future VRBO guests.

Great home for 2 families
Great home. Needs new flooring downstairs and guest house. Needs new easy to maintain sofas. Did not feel very clean but beautiful home and very accommodating for multiple families. Our parents grew up on Lighthouse and 17 Mile and we had a mini reunion. Lots of fun. Thank you.

Lovely home with lots of space
We were able to fit 12 of us in this large home nicely. Some had to share rooms but didn't feel cramped. The home was clean and tidy. My family and I had dinner every night together at the large dinning room table. The backyard was amazing and our dog had a blast running round. The only complaint is that the downstairs trundle beds made some noise when moving around which was a little annoying. Other then that the house was perfect for our stay.

Great house and stay for families!
We used this house as our stay place for the Big Sur Marathon. We had 5 adults and 1 baby, and the accommodations could have easily handled another family of 3. We loved the cleanliness of the place, the comfort of the beds and of course the location in Pacific Grove. We enjoyed the fireplace, the kitchen area, used the outdoor grille and picnic area, and the privacy of the "extra room and kitchen". Sanctuary vacation rentals were extremely helpful before and during our stay, including allowing us to arrive an hour early early, and depart just a few hours late. They were very willing and wanting to make sure we enjoyed our stay! Thanks so much for a great and safe place of our family on race weekend!

Very quaint, nicely maintained property.
The house was very nice. However, the front door was impossible to unlock. In our opinion (there were 7 adults) this is a serious fire hazard. Had we not had issues with the front door, this would have been a 5 start rating.

Wonderful property
We had a family wedding Monterey and chose this property for our family. Beautiful house with lovely architectural details. The house was very clean with wonderful linens. We easily slept 8 adults and could have had children too. The dining room is very large and there are plenty of dishes and silverware. We hosted a family dinner after the wedding that everyone enjoyed. You can walk to downtown Pacific Grove quite easily. In the morning one could see deer out in the yards.

This Lighthouse home exceeded our expectations!
This home was clean and had everything you can think of for an enjoyable vacation with our extended family. We had more than enough room for 9 people. Everyone from 2 mo. to 82 years were comfortable and happy. The large dining table made it easy to eat in and visit. The proximity to the ocean made walking the PG beach trail a nightly event. We hope to get together again in Pacific Grove and to stay there again.
