This location is so beautiful and serene, you almost need to go nowhere else. Cordeia is quite gracious and helpful, and the cabin is comfortable and has all amenities. The neighborhood is lovely, and the town of Sidney charming, yet you are still realtively close to any other attractions. I would come back!

We had an amazing time. The hosts, Cordelia and John were so welcoming and helpful with the local sights and things to see, the cabin was wonderful, the bed was so comfortable. It was amazing to fall asleep listening to the water lapping against the shore. We can't wait to return for another visit.

The cabin was lovely - well laid out, nicely equipped, quiet, and with stunning water and sunset views. There were also lots of great places nearby to wander among beautiful trees. Our host was incredibly thoughtful with daily email suggestions for things to do and sights to see, not to mention a gift card to the local market, plus cake and a card as this was a 50th birthday getaway. Thank you for helping to make this a memorable experience ❤️

Absolutely the most beautiful spot on the most beautiful island in Canada! Cosy cabin with spectacular views. We saw eagles and sea lions and dolphins from our cabin and the hot tub. Everything you need and more in the cabin. Lovely walks in the neighborhood and a short drive to Sidney for browsing and lunch. Cordelia was very friendly and provided lots of suggestions for things to do. But mostly we wanted to sit and stare out at the sea! So relaxing and inspiring.

Coal Point Cottage - Magical
We are already re-booked! Why...because of the amazing hospitality of Cordelia and John and the magical setting of Coal Point Cottage. Cordelia was supportive all through the booking process and continued during our stay with excellent suggestions of walks, markets, and local farms to visit. We so enjoyed spending time at the cottage with its open views of ocean and islands. The cottage has everything one needs for a comfortable stay.Waking up each morning to such spectacular views makes you just wish to stay and enjoy the deck and watch the wildlife. Daily sightings of seals,otters and eagles were a treat. A hot tub under the stars ends the day perfectly.
The generous nature of our hosts and the magic of the cottage makes a return stay a must. So looking forward to being back.

Wonderful property and attentive hosts. Our comfort and wellbeing were foremost with them and made our stay extra special. Local shopping, beaches and restaurants excellent. We would recommend this spot to anyone wanting to escape for a few days…you may not want to come back.

Beauty, Nature and Peace
The place is incredibly beautiful. Inside, the cabin is attractive and full of character. The long views across the water are wonderful, especially on a moonlit night, and the immediate surroundings are very pleasing. There is active birdlife all around the cabin. While the cabin is not isolated in the sense of being out of sight, it feels very private. The owners live maybe forty yards away and are available and very sociable but not intrusuve. The hot tub is a few steps away from the cabin, across the driveway and not private, but is nonetheless a very comfortable place to soak, have a drink and take in spectacular sunsets. We definitely plan to return.

After giving Cordelia an opportunity to address the fact that she was dishonest in listing the cabin as wheelchair accessible, she completely dismissed me which is why I am forced to write this negative review. My email to her is as follows:
I am permanently disabled with a mobility injury. When I booked your cabin, I made sure to read everything about the set-up to insure that it would be suitable for me. As you listed the cabin as wheelchair accessible, that means that not only could someone with a wheelchair rent the cabin, but also someone such as myself with a lesser restriction of mobility.
At over $2000 for a week, I would assume that you were honest in your listing and was shocked to discover on our arrival that the cabin was not wheelchair accessible, and that the entire floor of the cabin was tilted backwards toward the back of the cabin, completely not built to code. What was supposed to be a relaxing retreat for a week by the ocean was anything but as the situation aggrevated my vestibular injury and I was dizzy with migraine headaches the entire week and came home covered in bruises due to be falling into those chairs through the narrow walkway. And to make matters worse, when I politely informed you of my vestibular injury and the negative and hazardous effect the incline of the floor was having on me during our stay, your response was not to acknowledge that the floor was far from level, but to express condolenses over my accident and injury. It was a slap in the face to be gaslit like that as it was extremely hard for me to even say anything to you about this. I would expect that the cabin would be built to code, and unfortunately it is not.
On top of that, the high level of the bed being at hip height made it extremely difficult to get in and out of it even with your little foot stool. Additionally, I was told (as is also written in your listing) that check-in was contactless and that you had a HEPA filter running in the cabin to purify the air. Neither of these was true.
The view is spectacular, but the cabin is NOT suitable for anyone with mobility challenges even though the listing states it is wheelchair accessible. I am shocked that Cordelia did not take the opportunity to address this with me outside of this forum. All I wanted was for her to take down the Wheel Chair Accessible part of her listing.
I would not recommend this cabin to anyone. Owners are not truthful and completely dismissive of complaints.

Fantastic views and experience!
My wife and I had a wonderful weekend staying at this cabin. Cordelia and John were so friendly and accommodating, giving us a plethora of recommendations for things to do in the area in addition to providing such a lovely welcoming setup. The hot tub is in an unbelievable location overlooking the Saanich inlet and the property has amazing views, beach access and wildlife right next to the cabin. The cabin itself has a cool history - along with many of the hosts stories for the headland history in general - and is so well thought out, providing the rustic cost feel of a waterfront cabin with additions to make it more comfortable than staying at a Fairmont, or similar. The kitchen is really nice and fully stocked, the bathroom is lovely with a really good shower and the bedroom is so comfortable with such great views to wake up to right from your bed. We couldn’t recommend this highly enough, thank you so much for your hospitality!

Cordelia’s place was exactly what we hoped for. We woke up to a heron landing outside of our window and saw otters playing in the water

We really enjoyed the gorgeous views and extremely clean and stocked cabin. Waking up to a beautiful ocean view in bed was amazing. Cordelia and John were pleasant hosts who supplied lovely recommendations of things to do in the area. The charcuterie plate upon arrival was such a nice surprise. Enjoyed the nature surrounding the spot… seals, otters, raccoons and hummingbirds. We really enjoyed our stay :)

Amazing views and wildlife
Just had a wonderful, although slightly windy weekend at Coal Point Cottage. The cottage exceeds expectations – amazing view of the water, well appointed kitchen, newly renovated bathroom, sparkling clean throughout and an effective heat pump. Cordelia is an exceptionally gracious hostess and provided a lovely charcuterie board for our arrival and useful information on the local area. In addition, we were offered an extra night as the ferries back to Vancouver were cancelled because of the wind. The birdlife was fascinating, the hot tub comfortable and memorable for the view, and the family of 6 otters entertaining. This place is certainly worth a return visit.
