The location and staff

The location is fantastic. There is a nice playground for younger kids. the restaurant and bar is onsite. The reception and lounge area is kept really well. The young woman who checked us in was brilliant. Extremely friendly and sorted out the third bed for my child even though my email hadn't gone through on booking.com for some reason.
The bathroom was a nice size and the bed was really comfy. There is a trainline RIGHT next to the hotel so it's quite noisy with the windows open but they did give us a fan. We were in the building behind the restaurant rather than in the main hotel.
The googlemap links from booking.com did not take you to the exact address. The young chap serving us at breakfast wasn't terribly welcoming and when I asked him the simple general knowledge of when guests are expected to check out he said 'no idea' rather than offering to go ask a colleague. but that was just one person! The rest were nice and helpful. The breakfast choice if you weren't paying for the cooked breakfast was a bit limited and there weren't any servings spoons set out. The pool hours are a bit limited so we missed it but didn't get to see the facilities, maybe it's nice in there! The plug in the bath was for shower setting and i couldn't get it out easily, when i wrenched it free it was clogged with other guests hair. but it was a lovely hot bath in the end after I had cleaned it! The fire alarm light was bright green and luminous and not able to turn off perhaps understandably but it did cast quite a strong light all night.

The evening meal that we had was lovely and we enjoyed it and the staff were very polite and helpful and smiled.
The room was a nice size, lovely fresh clean sheets.
Lovely location and quiet.
The breakfast fruit was very dry looking and put me off of having that. Had weetabix instead.
Felt that paying extra for a cooked breakfast was a bit too much.

Breakfast was ok. They gave you saucers rather than side plates. Could fit on le croissant. Half of h stuff want labelled. Table wasn't laid properly. Lack of staff.
Most things. Swimming pool was shut.
