Relax, enjoy the sound of waves

The location, the way the hotel is facing the Ocean, the view from the balcony and sound of waves.

Buffet menu (breakfast especially) choices could be more varied.

Lovely location

Rooms were spotlessly clean. Located right on the beach. Rooms nicely furnished, roomy, comfy bed.

For the price point in a 3*hotel (I paid ~ €220 per night) you would expect some sort of fan or air con. In my personal experience staff were not particularly helpful with giving directions to public transport (gave wrong information and wrong directions!) Was disappointed in the fresh fruit selection @breakfast.

Superb hotel next to sea

Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent location right by the sea, with wonderful sea views and access. Spacious room, balcony and stairwells. Comfortable bed and great shower. Bus stop into town outside hotel. Beach towels available and decent buffet breakfast. The whole hotel felt more luxurious than a 3 star. We could have happily stayed more than 3 nights - great place to relax.

More plant based protein options at breakfast would be good, such as peanut butter, nuts and seeds. Smoke from smokers on neighbouring balconies wafting into our room via our open balcony doors meant we often had to close the doors and couldn't enjoy the fresh sea breeze and sound of the ocean waves - perhaps some floors could be designated 'smoking on balconies floors'?

Excellent

The hotel is constructed on a mountain. All the rooms have large balconies and are facing the ocean. The rooms are spacious, clean and the hotel has a very unique and amazing garden down to the beach. One can swim in the beach next to the hotel, although currents can be sometimes strong. There is a beautiful walk from the beach along the promenade. All in all, it is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve been to.

The staff at the breakfast was a bit rude. But at the receptim they were very nice. Breakfast should be upgraded, does not have much choice.

Superb

Excellent location. Great view. Spacious and very nice room.

Lift did not go down to the pool. You need to walk on a steep slope as well as take a lot of stairs. No problem for us, but for disabled people quite impossible.

Nice hotel, nice place, big rooms, parking. Fantastic ocean view from the room.

Breakfasts were weaker, same food every time, minimal changes, small drinking glasses, staff sometimes didn't understand English. When requesting an early breakfast we were referred to the reception and ordered a package, however the reception suddenly wanted 9€ per person for this service, which is otherwise normally free, with the proviso that it had to be ordered the day before.

Amazing views, worth the walk.

I loved the hotel. Check in was quick, the member of staff on duty was very helpful. The room view was amazing, really big room too. Clean. Loved the massage, cured my aching legs from the long mountain hikes Breakfast was OK, especially for the price of the room. It was a walk to Funchal or Camera de lobos, but if you are fit it's well worth it for the fantastic views in your room I slept so well with the sound of the sea.

Superb

Great location - far from the city, so it was very calm in surrounding, with very comfortable connection to Camara de Lobos via promenade (20 minutes walk). Room with ocean view and ocean sound. The most impressive black beach on the island.

Breakfast was monotonous - we spent there 8 days and everyday was the same selection, with no local specialities. Bed mattress was placed on some weird construction, I didn't feel stable.

It's ok

The rooms were clean

The room was old and shabby. Also the view was blocked by the Lobby. From the Lobby you could directly see our room, which was quiet unfortunate for our overall privacy feeling.

Wonderful hotel

Wonderful location! We loved sitting at the balcony and watching the ocean. Room was spacious, comfy and clean. Breakfast was delicious, i would like to appreciate staff at the breakfast, they were very helpful and polite. I really recommend this hotel!

Staff at the reception could be way nicer - they could at least say hello back when we greeted them first but maybe they were working hard and didnt hear us.

Very good

A lovely band in the bar. The beautiful voice of Sara accompanied by Victor made the poncha way nicer. Also the view from the room is like a painting.

terrible beds, bugs that bite the body, a deposit for a room that is not warned about and in general, in principle, this is a very strange thing for a hotel.

Location was excellent, bus stop near by. Beach front.

Beds was creaking every time you moved. Got bitten by bed bugs. The staff very not friendly we asked for some Tea bags as ours was not replaced for the day. The man at the reception told us we had to wait till the next day.

Great view, nice people, I recommend :)

The view over the ocean is fantastic - from every room you see black volcanic beach. It's fantastic. Every night we slept with windows wide open to hear sound of waves. Hotel stuff were all sooooo nice and polite and fun! Breakfast was good, something for everyone. Parking spots are available also on the street above hotel. It's great stay for exploring city Funchal.

Perfect for relaxing

The location is bit out main city so perfect for chill. Nice swimming pool right next to the beach (smooth black sand), lovely sea view, clean and relatively modern room. Was a really pleasant surprise.

Perfect for few days of relaxation

Perfect location, with the possibility to park the car for free. Charming, spacious rooms with extremely comfy beds. Breathtaking views of the ocean both from the rooms and from the swimming pool. It's worthy to stay there more than one night!

A 3 star hotel but 5 star location

The location was perfect for us: a little out of the main resort area, and right beside the beach (which is mainly sand), just a short walk from Churchill Bay. The views across the sea were lovely, and our balcony was a great size. Staff were polite and courteous.

Staff were polite rather than particularly friendly — although I guess that’s partly down to the size of the hotel. My husband was unimpressed by the breakfast buffet, particularly the quality of the meats and cheeses (although the freshly cooked breads were lovely). It was reduced occupancy while we were there, due to COVID restrictions; I think in ordinary circumstances we’d have found it too busy and possibly rather noisy. (Very thin walls!)

That view!

Amazing balcony view, huge balcony. Free parking, very nice pool. The room was very spacious as well as the bathroom. The front desk arranged covid test at the hotel which was very relaxed and highly appreciated.

Breakfast was a bit sub par with not a lot of options. Bed was ok for a night or two but for 10days we stayed it was quite uncomfortable. Some days we had bad smell in the bathroom.
