Fascinating style with really comfortable bedrooms. Great staff. Friendly and funny and professional. The chef couldn’t come in on Monday morning so a lovely member of staff cooked breakfast for me c

Shower in first room we had booked (twin) didn’t work. Given the hassle of waiting for maintenance to sort it or moving rooms we didn’t say anything until the second day. When I tried to call down to Reception to inform the staff the phone in the room didn’t work. So I tried to call the external hotel line from my mobile, but nobody answered downstairs. My friend had to walk down to physically find a member of staff to help.
We were offered an alternative room upstairs (via a fire escape!) and the staff moving our stuff, which we didn’t want. We had to push for a better room next door, which was much more comfortable. The breakfast on our last morning took half an hour and it was not complicated food. There were multiple errors in the billing which took ages to sort out on check out. The manager offered complimentary drinks and tried to reach a compromise on the billing. He was considerate and polite.
For what I paid (thru Booking.Com), the initial twin room I booked was very poor value. I feel like I was paying 4 star rates for a small poorly provisioned space.
