What we liked: - cleanliness - the bathroom - perfect location in the fort What we didn't like: - there was no laundry service (it states there is) - we had a bad experience of service at the cake shop which is linked to the hotel. They messed up our order and it took a while to sort out the bill. We then had to pay the bill in two payments of which we were shortchanged because they didn't have the correct money. Finally we were charged a 10% dine in fee despite already staying that the hotel. - Layout of the room, single bed in the middle of the whole living space. - They didn't replace our toilet roll and bedding was not refreshed - Woken up at very early every morning due to loud noise, furniture moving and chairs scraping on the floor

Calm stay in unawatuna not in the popular street. The hotel is renovated, small boutique hotel, breakfast tasty we had avocado and poached eggs you can choose what you want. There's AC which is good in srilanka but unfortunately no fridge in the room

For the price and location this is a great find, room was clean and served a nice breakfast. The only down side for me was the room smelt a bit musty. That was the only negative for us.

This is a great little hotel right in the heart of Galle Fort, with wonderfully attentive staff, particularly the gentleman who done the breakfast, he was so lovely, thank you for chatting with us and a wonderful breakfast! The room we had was big with the bed being upstairs and had it not had a few issues I'd have rated it a 5, but we had a leak in the ceiling, too much furniture in the downstairs section, the shower ran between scalding and freezing no matter what you did and the water doesn't drain properly so it travels out towards the room, also our fridge did not work, however in the grand scheme of things this wasn't a huge problem. It's a lovely place to stay, rooms have aircon (most likely to be the cause of the leak), fridges, they are good sized and the bed (double) was comfortable, all in all we had a lovely stay here! Also, there is no lift and many stairs up to the first floor where the rooms are, also some rooms have stairs in them, not ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

The location is amazing, right in the middle of Galle Fort which is ideal - quiet too for a central place. Staff really friendly and always greeted with a smile. Our room was ok - comfy bed, however there were a few things to note; no kettle/water/teas & coffees etc., the room had a musty/stagnant smell, and quite dark & dingy. It did the job for a couple of nights, but wouldn’t want to be in there much longer. There were also mental bars on the windows rather than glass, felt a little odd!

It was one of the best properties during our Sri Lanka visit. The room was small but had everything needed like fan, AC, wardrobe, minibar, phone, work desks. Good Wifi. The washroom was spacious and clean. The best part was the location which is right in middle of Galle fort area surrounded by restaurants and shops. Highly recommended.

Despite being told that there is a security guard to allow for entry 24hours, I was twice locked out of the hotel. On my last night, I waited for 90 minutes before having to find somewhere else to stay. When I arrived the following morning, they did apologise but offered nothing more.

We loved the older style building with the high ceilings, big open areas and the cozy room complete with desk, refrigerator, blow dryer and cleanliness. The staff were very helpful and you have the use of the sister property's pool just a short walk up the Road which was fantastic! We really enjoyed our stay in Galle and at 56 by Deco.

It was such a pleasant stay. The room was super clean. loved the stay even with the small room we picked. Would be perfect if the shower have much warm water. Staff was so helpful and Galle will be my most fav stay.

The location is the main thing that recommends this accommodation. Getting woken at 6am each morning by the staff shouting to one another or the smoothie maker and having no windows in the room were not what I expected. Individually the staff were mainly delightful and kind, but the location enables this accommodation to over charge.

Great hotel in the centre of Galle Fort. It's a small hotel with nicely proportioned rooms and good bed. Breakfast was great and service was as expected, very friendly. They have their own waffle house too so easy lunches.

Prashant the manager was very helpful and friendly and a good conversationalist. The hotel was tastefully decorated and the breakfast and wraps for lunch very satisfying. Other staff were very pleasant too. Great hotel and in the perfect location within the Dutch Fort.

A great place to stay for westerners wanting a consistent compact clean and modern hotel in the heart of Galle fort. Not too many rooms which means it doesn’t get too crowded and noisy. There is the second hotel which has the pool 2 mins up the road but this has easier access to the hotel. Will definitely be coming back here soon. For fans of Pondicherry in India you will enjoy the surroundings in Fort Galle.

I hate to bag this hotel because the staff are so nice but, as far as comfort, it has none. The rooms are incredibly small thus the loft for the bed. There are no windows so it becomes musty in short time. There is no where comfortable to sit to watch the TV. I was very glad to depart.

Staff were very helpful and location was very good. The archaeological maritime museum is a must. Breakfast was good. Room had no view, but I guess you are in a very dense area, and it was certainly comfortable.

The hotel staff are really helpful and polite. They are willing to tell me how to reach Mirissa Beach and Jungle Beach. One of the staff even provided me lots of details of catching a bus to Jungle beach. They are friendly and informative.

Everything great... Its a large property but with very few rooms--which makes it feel very personalized. Beutiful decor, perfect cleanliness, big perfect bed, AC perfect... nothing but plus, plus, plus--including great location, right in the center of the very nice Galle Fort.

located conveniently in galle fort, this boutique hotel was rather charming. we were greeted warmly by this kindly old gentleman at the reception (and he was always at the entrance ready to welcome us when we entered and left) and offered a cold towel and welcome drinks during check in. room looked nice and comfortable and air con was already switched on for us when we got in. we were all ready to enjoy our evening’s rest at the nice property. the series of unfortunate events happened in the evening when first, the air con started leaking significant amounts of water down. the evening’s manager came within 5 mins from the adjacent 44 property and got it resolved. we understood that it was a clog of drainage from the roof that caused the leaking. second, in the morning, partner complained of multiple (~20) insect bites and bad itching that transpired during the night. i had a few but they weren’t so bad. those bites did not look like mosquito bites and we thought they resembled bed bugs it was pouring when we checked out and the kindly old gentleman helped us flag a tuk tuk and got us nice and dry into the tuk tuk to depart the premises. we had a mixed bag of feelings about the place.

Stayed for three days and really happy we opted for a hotel in the fort. There's plenty of bars, restaurants and shops, all in easy walking distance. The fort can get quite busy during the day with day trippers, but the hotel offers a peaceful haven away from the bustle. The staff were so friendly and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble.
