breakfast buffet was good and you can order seperate cooked eggs etc.
room was as expected, air con was poor, but they came and cleaned the filters then it was fine, balcony is tiny but useful, bath is separated by a glass wall, so maybe not for everyone. there is a water refill unit on every floor which was very good and helpful.
location is excellent for walking and exploring the old town, no car needed.
roof top pool, sauna and bar excellent, good views.
gym equipment new and very good.
the hotel is on top of a shopping mall with its entrance inside the mall.
sat tv kept flickering, engineer could not fix it, room lighting switches were a little annoying. room coffee was just instant sachets, I would have preferred a pod system or similar for a 5 star hotel.

Location, hotel staff were extremely helpful, organised tours of the island and were so so friendly. Great selection for breakfast and we participated in a buffet evening dinner with traditional Maderian dancing . A fantastic experience.
Lighting in the bedroom.

the layout of the room was ridiculous, open plan bathroom/bedroom, lights came on automatically at floor level at night but not for long enough to get to the bathroom and back, not at all practical
