Everything, honestly. The location in Arashiyama is the star: quiet in the early morning before the day trippers arrive, and a short walk to the bamboo grove and the Togetsukyo bridge. Coming back to somewhere this calm after a full day out was a real luxury. The room was spotless, comfortable and thoughtfully set up, with plenty of space to unpack properly for four nights rather than living out of a suitcase. Check in was smooth and friendly, and the hosts were genuinely helpful with local tips. Great transport links too, easy to reach the rest of Kyoto and straightforward onward to the station. Excellent value for what you get

This hotel was by far our best accommodation of our 10-day stay in Japan. It was clean, comfortable, the staff was excellent and very accommodating. After check out they held our bags for the day and that was really great since we spontaneously booked a river rafting tour just outside of Kyoto. The beds were like clouds and my wife really loved the espresso machine. The bathroom was also exceptional with a rain shower head. The location is awesome as well being so close to the train station, ISO sushi, and a Lawson as well as three amazing tourist attractions. The bamboo forest, the monkeys, and a temple shrine. This was tens across the board so don't hesitate to book it. We wanted to stay longer but it was booked out.

Wanted a place that was comfy in Arashiyama. We had a great stay and the staff were very attentive. Room was very spacious.

We really like the location of the place. We like the fact that we could walk and get breakfast or dinner within 10 minutes.
Although the property was clean, it was very small. We visited during early April so the prices were outrageous and it was definitely overpriced for the stay and for the size of the room.
