Was not my favorite but was adequate. Others in party enjoyed the Japanese breakfast.

Hotel opposite Arashiyama station, so close! Beautiful serene place, tatami floors so pleasant with no shoes worn. Private baths very hot and very enjoyable. Room lovely with superbly presented amenities such as the little cupboard with a beautiful team coffee set. Really can't fault the place.
Unfortunately for us it was Japan Silver Week, a big holiday, so there were no double beds available...a minor issue. The restaurant was also pre-booked full both dinner and breakfast so we had to look in the town. This proved difficult as virtually everything closes at 6pm!

The location is close to the train in Arashiyama and the local sites nearby.
They have a no shoe policy which is fine, but they do not hand you slippers and are expected to walk to your room through the halls and elevator barefoot. All other hotels I stayed at provided slippers for wearing in the halls as necessary. The room doors are sliding doors with one small lock that can make it a bit uncomfortable for safety, as well as sounds coming into the rooms from people in the hallway. This hotel was advertised as 4 star with amenities but it felt like 2 or 3 stars in comparison to other 4 star hotels in Kyoto and Tokyo. The hotel is far from any restaurant open later than 6pm for dinner if you do not plan to eat at the hotel. The price was also non-refundable over a month before arrival, so I could not change plans without losing a ton of money.
